I've been stalking rebuilders for awhile now and I'm just wondering if the items I am planning on buying are correct.

NiChrome wire: Nichrome Wire

I was planning on getting the 34g and 36g and go from there.

Wicking material... Not sure on this one yet, I might just get both wick and wire from here: Mod Parts

Anyone have better options for me?

Well if you want to try Nichrome, get the 80 here.

PnJ Resources, LLC : Nichrome 80

The wick looks fine.

36ga is kinda tough to work with, if it matters you won't have many wraps in your coil due to it's higher resistance. If you think that more wraps (for the same ohms) will vaporize better also get some 32ga. The lower numbered gauges are thicker, which may make for a more robust coil.

Thanks for the info, I understand resistances and gauges. Just never played with rebuilding coils. I have all the equipment I need for testing, so, I'll figure out the details when I get the stuff. I just ordered the small packages of materials from Mod Parts to start off. I'll figure out what I need to work with and which way to go with respect to wire gauge and wick material after I try this stuff. Does radio shack carry resistance wire?

The CE4 or 4+ type cartomizers are good place to start. The cartos don't cost a whole lot. They may be high as a cartomizer, but as a rebuildable, they make a good value There's a video...somewhere. Ah...here it is.

I use cotton string in mine +/- 1/16" dia....probably a little less ...two wicks.

You might also check out this rather long thread. Towards the end, most seem to lean towards some form of cotton for wicks. I find the string satisfactory and easy.

One of the great advantages of open coil rebuildables is the ability to simply burn the crud off the coil and wick with an inexpensive touch lighter.

Torch it for a few seconds, till the real wick turns white, then with a small artists brush knock the now loose crud off the coil.

To each his own I guess.

Don't try this with cotton wicks.

Here's a link to an experiment with a SS Mesh / Cotton hybrid wick. ...#1063.

Good luck!
