Recently I was at City of Pico Rivera Meeting, where they lumped e-cigarettes with Drug Paraphernalia.

A member of the American Cancer Society got up on the stage and downright lied.
Anger has been sticking in me, because if he had been the last speaker, he could have done serious damage.

Attached is a link to the meeting.

For those who like it easy, Attached is a link with just his testimony:

I'm urging anyone who is as offended as me to go to

And Write Your Opinion

Below is what I wrote

I am outraged.
Joe Price A representative of the American Cancer Society provided Incorrect information about Nicotine at a Pico Rivera City Council Meeting addressing banning of E-Cigarette Shops along with Drug Perephernalia and Head Shops

I understand that the American Cancer Society is opposed to e-cigarrettes but Joe Price crossed the line by disseminating outright misinformation that I believe is not the position of the American Cancer Society.

Nicotine is not a Carcinogenic and there is no medical evidence to back up his Ant-Nicotine Statements.

That was outrageous, I agree.
I can't help but think that he was coached through propaganda that the ACA/ALA/WHO and all those orgs dish out.
There is a NicotineFreeCa group on FB promoting the same things. We'd have to find them to learn their backers. But I bet my hunch is on the money.
With that said, that gives me even more reason to bombard those idiots with my disgruntled thoughts about the lies fed to one of their speakers.

It was interesting I contacted the American Cancer Society and they disavowed that this guy represented them.

Are they just going to sit by and let this guy go uncontradicted? Are they going to bestir themselves to write a letter to Pico Rivera to the effect that they are not making any such claim?

Hey Tom,

Did you send the disavowment by the Cancer Society of this loony tune to the representatives of the meeting? If an official outcome was determined based on this "testimony" I'd be after their heads that it should be rendered null and void if they're simply going to allow frauds to unstrap their strait jackets, walk in and start yapping...

I emailed the American Cancer people. They replied asking for proof. I sent then the link to the video. Their reply was full of the usual junk from the FDA tests etc. they must know how much rubbish it is.

So, ask them why they took positive lobbying action to make ecigs available to minors in Rhode Island and Ohio? (I think I've got this right, see the threads about RI and Ohio.

This is an old article, but still applies. This paragraph says it all:

"The plain fact of the matter is that the American Cancer Society is not in the business of finding the causes and the cures for cancer. It is in the business of raising money to spread around to any entity that wants to support the agenda of keeping cancer a money-making proposition. According to Prevent Cancer Coalition (PCC) and others who have been critical of Cancer Incorporated, the ACS is not only the wealthiest “non-profit” with assets close to a billion dollars, it focuses only on improving access to screening (drumming up more customers), diagnosis and treatment (read: more use of medical services, particularly drugs) and not on real prevention, thanks to its alliances and financial dependence on the cancer industry."

If you want to read the entire article, it's right here: Dr. Carolyn Dean MD -- Death by Propaganda, Part 2

Anyone know what the stance of the PCC is on e cigs? They are one of the few orgs that I have donated to. Even before I quit smoking. They just always seemed very "true" to me. I like them.... I want them on our side!!

I've been searching this morning and can not find an organization with the name of Prevent Cancer Coalition. It's mentioned in the link you provided, but I'm unable to find anything on the Interwebz. And my GoogleFu is pretty strong, too.

This was an old article. I believe they now go by the name Cancer Prevention Coalition (Cancer Prevention Coalition).
