Hi!

New to vaping and I've been really impressed so far! First tried it several years ago with the petrol station e-lites and thought 'give it a few years and these will be spot on'. So here I am! Bought myself a iTaste MVP2 a couple of weeks ago and a few different flavours and I have been really impressed.

However after one successful coil change my most recent attempt has been a bit of a nightmare. Replaced the coil and let it soak only for a really horrible burnt taste to appear. Tried swirling and leaving it sit and nothing seemed to do the trick!

Had a browse on here and Google and somebody said it could just be a bad coil and to try another. Gave that a go and same issue! I got these replacements from Flavour Vapour and expected them to be pretty much plug and play!

Any ideas?

Cheers

Hello arbitary and welcome to the forum. I'm not familiar with that specific tank. I do know that once you get the burnt flavor you should probably dump the juice in the tank and start fresh. When I prime my new coils in the Aspire Nautilus Mini, I fill the tank and cover the air hole as I draw suction to pull juice into the wick. Then I let it sit for a while before installing it on the battery/mod.

I haven't had much of a problem at all with the dry/burnt hits after a coil change. From what I've read on this forum, most are attributed to the wick not being full of juice.

Which iClear 30 model do you have?

Someone with experience in that specific tank should be along soon. Good luck.

I used the iClear 30 clearomizer back in the day, and was generally impressed with its performance for a "clearomizer". The original replacement coils for the iClear 30 (with 16 wicks) was ultimately discontinued by Innokin. Owners were suggested to use the iClear 16 replacement coils which are still in production, but they only have 8 wicks. So I would assume that these coils might not function as efficiently as the older ones with 16 wicks did. I bet your iClear 30 was old stock on clearance.

You might as well upgrade your juice delivery options at this point. The iClear 30 was a top coil clearomizer, and the industry appears to be focusing on only bottom coil devices now.

My recommendation would be an Aspire Nautilus clearomizer.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your replies! As an update, I've gone through about three coils trying to find one that works.. I have now got one working but it still doesn't work anywhere near as good as the previous one. I think you're right about getting a new clearomizer. What could I expect upgrading from an iClear 30 to a Aspire Nautilus? Just to note I have a MVP2 which only goes to 11W, so surely I am somewhat limited to some of the more popular clearos (sub ohm ones)?

Thanks again!

Before you give up on the iclear 30, rinse off the coils with water really well and dry them out. Then, install one back into the tank and put a few drops of your liquid directly on to the coil to prime it. Then fill the tank and let the wicks soak for about 5 minutes. Finally, take a few good puffs on it before you fire the mod. It sounds like a simple problem of the wick being dry at the coil. Priming the coil before using it is essential, especially on a top wick tank like the iClear 30.

Also check your voltage setting on your MVP and the ohms of your coil. Your replacement coils may be a lower resistance than the original one. Check the ohm rating to see if it's the same. If it's lower and you've got your MVP in Voltage mode then simply dropping the voltage should fix the problem.

I love my Nautilus but I wouldn't recommend one for an MVP2. The Nautilus really shines in the 15-20W range and your MVP2 just doesn't have enough power for it.

And out of curiosity, do you have an iClear 30 or the iClear 30S? The 30S has the wicks inside a metal tube and works much better than the 30.
