Hi all,

just about to fill my I clear16 clearomizer....
The guy in the shop told me they had several different materials for the shell/tank...

He sold me a Pyrex/glass I clear 16.... Because I was worrying about fumes coming off a plastic clear tank....
since buying I've tried to find a Pyrex iclear16,, But on the net I can only find polycarbonate Iclear 16s.....
The 'Pyrex' version was about twice the price.... Do they definitely exist....? As I'm still suspicious...
i seemed to spend a lot of money on very little...

i hope I'm just being paranoid.

To my knowledge there are no pyrex versions of the iClear 16 clearos. They are polycarbonate plastic.

The only three pyrex clearomizers to my knowledge are the Kanger Protank 1 & 2 and Mini Protank, the Smoktech Aro clearomizers, and the Vision Victory.

Vision Victory pyrex clearotank: Vision Victory

*Edit: I forgot that Smoktech makes a pyrex version of the Vivi Nova Tank.

Yeah, those are the only brands I've heard of that are Pyrex/Glass as well. Unless I'm mistaken, you bought from a dishonest vendor. If so, I would definitely take my $ elsewhere. :(

Cheers,
Think I got conned then:ohmy:

Charged me double for the 'Pyrex' version.....Bastad...

So is the polycarbonate safe? I just worry that the heat from vaping could release unhealthy fumes from the plastic, and likewise sunlight releasing toxic'ness into the e- liquid..
On that note is the rubber drip tip safe, or is a metal one better?
Curious. Does what the vendor calls the pyrex version look exactly like the iClear 16? Or is what he sold you one of the four other pyrex clearomizers? If this is true, either you misunderstood him or what he meant to say was what he sold you would be the same as an iClear only with glass.

The rubber tip should be safe to use. More than likely it is really plastic. If it is plastic, it might be susceptible to degradation with certain flavors. (see below)

The polycarbonate is safe as long as you watch which flavors that you use in it. Some flavors can chemically react with the polycarbonate and cause it to crack or melt. For instance, some cinnamon and citrus flavors. We call these flavors "volatile", which is not technically true because they do not cause the plastic to burst into flame, but they can cause it to degrade and leach chemicals into the juice. (See link below.)

*I forgot that Smoktech has a pyrex version of the Vivi Nova tank. So that is a fourth clearomizer that is made with pyrex.

I've written a blog article about this process, and given safe alternatives to use those flavors in:

It looks like you may have been ripped off. Iclear 16's look to be retailing around £6.00 on uk sites. If you paid substantially more than that, then you probably over paid for polycarbonate. I don't know the laws in england, but I'm guessing if the vendor outright lied(misrepresented) the product and charged you for something that you didn't actually receive (i.e. pyrex) it is probably against some consumer law for fair practices. I would demand a refund from the vendor and turn them in to whatever consumer agency is a appropriate. I found this link for misrepresentation Citizens Advice - The goods don't match their description
