Hi fellow ECF members,

I got myself a vamo and i'm really satisfied with the performance. however i don't get the battery part of it. My vamo package came with two batteries, 18650 and 18350. On the battery it is labelled as 3.7v. On my trustfire charger (came with the kit) it has two charging mode which is 3.0 v and 3.6v..so which charging voltage should i put the batteries on? The first time i got my 18650, when i charge it to 3.6v the red led doesn't change to green..but when i charge at 3.0v the red led does change to green! what's the matter here actually?

Thanks for all the feedback!

sounds like your using the wrong kind of charger and you need to be carefull or you will ruin the batteries or have an accident.
you need a Lithium charger.
when full the battery should actually read 4.2v

what kind of charger is it?

I think it's a Trust Fire T-001 charger...included in the kit i bought. The battery is labelled as ICR18350 Special Lithium Battery for the short batt and the long one is blue (kinda looks like a generic battery) with ICR18650 3.7v 2200 mah printed on it...

How about the charger voltage setting though? 3.0 v or 36v volt...there a voltage switch at the charger's right side

From the forums ICR batteries aren't quite safe? Correct me if I'm wrong

I would not use those batteries. If they work on the Vamo I think they are not protected. Un-protected ICR batteries are dangerous. I know the Vamo has protection built in, but it assumes the batteries are IMR which can output much more power. If the batteries had protection, they would not work because the protection circuit would stop them. If this is true, those batteries are dangerous.

The charger voltage should be set to 3.6 for a 3.6 (sometimes stated 3.7 volt) volt battery which is what you have. I believe the 3 volt is for another battery type.

this is the real problem, i cant find a trustfire picture that shows any switch like this and does not sound like a Li charger. there shouldn't be a voltage setting. it is supposed to automatically charge the battery to 4.2v

ICR can work under normal situations, with average resistances, especially in a vamo.
For best performance you should use a high drain imr

this is the t-oo1

i can find no setting for voltage on it.

I believe the 3.6 volts is for the lions that we use, typically called nominal 3.7 volt batteries. I thought I had seen some that were lower voltage but couldn't remember where. Check here. AW LiFePO4 RCR 123 500mAh 3.2V. Likely that's what the 3 volt setting is for, but not sure. The charger is for lion.

Check here Thrasher. Third picture from the left under the main picture.

cool, on various forums i found several things about the switch and charge times:

"This switch is used to select between LiCoO2/LiMn (3.6 volt position) and LiFePO4 (3.0 volt position)."

" It seems slow becuase as the battery voltage goes up in the charge cycle the charge current comes down , the TR-001 is a little extreme in its lower charge current , but it gets the job done .. But that last stage does drag on . [ last 0.1volts ]"

"I do not like chargers that continues to charger, but it can be used as long as the battery is removed within a few hours after the led changes to green.
The charger is way to slow for a 18650 charger, but will work fine for 10440 cells."

so it is important that you take the battery off after the light turns green and it will turn green, just going to be a while.
