I am brand new to this so please forgive my ignorance

looking at the mods that are out there it seems that the trend is going for extremely long battery life and using variable 3.7v to 6v units.

has anyone that makes these mods considered using a hand driven DC generator coupled with a high capacity rechargeable battery to one yet? You can see these used in survival radio flashlight combos. A few turns of the crank and you have juice for 10 mins or more.

Seems to me that this would be a big plus never having to worry about charging a unit and knowing no matter where you are that you can always have a strong amperage off a battery.

If anyone uses this idea please send me one lol.......... I have friend that's a master electrician ill get em drunk and see if I cant sucker him into making a prototype. I'll keep you posted

I have a wind up flashlight that uses a small 3.7 volt 80mAh battery to store it`s energy. I now have a 14250 battery I`m going to replace that with. then install a 510 connector and a switch.
Been wanting to do this to see for myself but many will tell you not worth the effort since you will be winding that sucker way to much.
I`m hard headed and need to learn such things myself. I still think it should work. But who knows till it`s tried for sure.

Maybe I`ll get into doing this soon. But I kind of really like that flashlight so we will see. I see no reason I can`t keep it as a Flashlight as well.

Ok I couldn`t stop myself.
My Flashlight has been modded with a larger battery (14250 350mAh) and a 510 connector with a seperate switch. :p

It vapes and the flashlight is working so far so good. But now to wear the battery down and see if I can get what on say a minute long crank. Let the testing begin. I will do a post on this with the test results in the next few days. If nothing else I think it looks cool and I actually have the switch and all in a good spot so it is comfortable to use. Might even get the test results up sooner like say tomorrow. depends on how the test goes I suppose.

It is a Flashlight like this you crank to charge.

Energizer Weather Ready Carabineer Crank Flashlight - eBay (item 180524152010 end time Jul-22-10 13:43:16 PDT)

And here is what it now looks like. :D

Test results are in on the 2 in 1 Energizer All Weather Crank & Vape Flashlight.
First I must say I`m a true 5 Volt vape type person. So the test was done with a LR atomizer for the first round since this is a 3.7 volt mod and I then used a normal 510 atomizer in the 2nd round of testing.
You can add 1/2 a hit to the results since that`s what I got when it would stop.
The battery I have replaced the original with is A 350 mAh battery.

In the testing the battery is dead with no vape or Flashlight LED`s able to work.
..............................................................................
I cranked it for 5 minutes.
This gave me (9) 5 second hits.

Then cranked it for 10 minutes.
This gave me (15) 5 second vapes.
..............................................................................
When I ran this test on a normal 510 atomizer.
I cranked it for 5 minutes.
I got (6) vapes of 5 seconds.

Then cranked it for 10 minutes.
This gave me (13) 5 second vapes.
..............................................................................
So is it worth it?
If I was without power and needed a nicotine fix. You bet.
Would this be a every day type PV?
With a usb charger possibly although since it has a fixed battery and would need time to charge a 2nd PV would be needed perhaps.
With the flashlight and Crank Charge ability this would make a great camping PV if you ask me.

I figure I will be adding a usb charging board to this if possible. Once it is fully charged I think as lang as you cranked it every once in a while you may do fairly well with getting some time out of this. Letting it go all the way dead is just looking for some crank time.
Besides a little action like this could even be good for your health or Bad and give you carpal tunnel.

I am also a fisherman using only artificial bait spin casting on a Ultra light fishing pole. This was like reeling it in.
That will be good for keeping me in shape for some fishing in the future.. If BP hasn`t killed them all by then.

As long as everything goes good I`m going to try sticking a USB charging board in it tonight and a LED for the vape switch and will get a how to up if all goes well with that. Just hope there is room to stick that in there.

See being hard headed pays off. One more example take everything you read here as only someone's opinion and not fact. This mod does work. :p

No eating crow for me tonight.

Sorry no video due to being on dialup connection.

Nice results. Clearly the lr atty is the way to go. You are right it would probably do really well with a fully charged battery and you just crank once and a while. And that is perfect for camping. Nice work connman!

Wow, dial up. I thought only mountain people still used dial up.

 mountain people well them and us. We actually just became capable out here in the middle of no-where Florida with Broadband 2 months ago.
And Cable TV will never make it here.
Although we are getting Broadband soon as my sister gets a better computer now. Then I`ll demo my mods.

I have to say that crank flashlight/Ecig is pretty cool. You have a neat imagination and I totally agree that would make an outstanding camping ecig. :) I do have a question though how was the vapor... was it plooms or was so so. ?
Hi grimmer255,
Actually with the LR atty it was very good. You could perhaps notice slightly towards the 2nd to last hit it was dropping off. The regular 510 was good I suppose just don`t care for the normal 3.7 volt hit much anymore. Yet good vapor I`d say.
I just made a small video and will see how long it will take to get up if I can.
