Taste is Very subjective. Also the phrase “Perception is Reality” comes to mind.

Maybe the is a Significant change in taste of some e-liquids for some people after 6 or 7 days. Maybe because people Want there to be a change that there is. Or maybe it is the Oxidation of the Nicotine or Plasticizers leaching into the e-liquids. Who is really to say.

I just don’t see any real change to e-liquids stored in Glass bottle past a week. But if something works for someone that I say stick with it.

___

BTW – I never liked the term "Steeping".

I equate it to heating something for a short period of time. I guess that sometimes a phrase is used and it just catches on. Regardless of the fact that the term may or may not be meaningful. And the more people that use the phrase the more it becomes ingrain in the collective belief.

Kinda like an Urban Myth does.

Interesting points of view however I'd like to contend with the following:

If you applied the same 'steeping is a myth' argument to wine people would look at you funny. Wine is a classic example of how a beverage or a food product gets better with age because of the fermentation process.

I personally think 'steeping' is a fine term. It is also used to describe brewing a cup of tea. Steeping tea bags is a commonly known term used to describe the length of time that a tea bag is left in the cup to provide the optimum flavour. 'Steeping' probably refers to the process of allowing a flavour to get stronger or 'steeper'.

can someone tell me if the Malty Toffee flavor comes out more when steeping? right now it's 9 days old from the birthdate

i know it's a subtle flavor.. but i'm having a hard time tasting it. lowering the voltage on my provari helps (1.5 306), but it's still just barely there.. it smells fantastic.

any thoughts?

To me, the flavor comes out more after it's steeped. My current Malty Toffee is now 8+ weeks old. I think I noticed more flavor start to pop out after about 3-4 weeks. I've got about 15ml left, so I will probably order another 30ml soon to give it some steeping time.

awesome! can't wait. i forgot i have another malty toffee (higher nic mg) that's 2 weeks old and still not much of anything, gonna try again in another 2 weeks

I'm having the same trouble buddy. When I first got my malty and malty toffee I could barely taste a thing. I live in Australia which means my liquid was probably already 7-14 days old when I received it.

Ive now how the liquid for a further 10 days making it 25 days in total and only now am i starting to taste some of the sweetness and flavour of the malty toffee come through. I am going to give it a few more weeks.

The same applies with a lot of my other flavours from BWB. The only flavour that seemed to jump out with flavour right out of the box for me was the Casablanca.

I agree about Casablanca Anthony. The flavor popped out of the box right away. Despite being another tobacco flavor for which some folks have recommended steeping, I thought Backo tasted wonderful right from the start too.....though in my opinion it has gotten a bit sweeter.

I still can't taste the Backo or the Adironback or the Cherry tobacco and Virginia for that matter. I could hardly taste any of those when I first got them. I am only now noticing hints of flavour in these liquids and they are probably nearing the 4 week mark. Applewood had some noticable apple flavours and an immense throat hit but I am letting that steep further as well.

I reckon Don should hire some people, train them in his fine alchemy and start bottling up liquid and storing it so it's already steeped by the time to consumer gets it. His juices are great and worth the wait but it's better if we don't have to wait several weeks to get the finest out of them!

I taste BacKo plenty from the mailbox. The other 3 I ordered yesterday for the first time, can't comment yet but I expect the same. My BacKo was fresh and 18mg, I got some 4 week old 24mg in a trade and it's the same with more TH. Not sure if that's due to steeping, more nic, or both, but I like it better and ordered more in 24mg.

Actually I ordered 7 flavors on my first order last month, all tobaccos, and all had plenty of flavor imo. Applewood seems to sharpen a bit, while Casa softens. I like Casa young and Applewood old.

I thought my Applewood (now about 8 weeks old) mellowed as far as the apple taste. The tobacco taste came out more, though. I, too, prefer Casa young because of a stronger cocoa taste (to me) when it's a newborn, but as it's aging it's still excellent.

Well, I did have a nasty cold for 2 weeks in which I couldn't taste anything. I haven't yet tried most of my BWB stock since I had that cold except for Backo and Malty Toffee. Both flavours are starting to come through but my senses tell me they require further steeping.

But making a statement in our forum as to the Juices being tasteless is indeed tasteless, and on top of that you now admit you haven't tried most of them AND have a cold...Judging by that banner of yours , am I to believe that this might be a weak attempt at a bit of trolling Anthony???
I will warn you once and once only, if this is so.

'Trolling' lol. I haven't heard such terminology since my old days on MIRC.

The statement I was making was that the juices need time to steep, not that they lack flavour. I've already mentioned somewhere that the Casablance is fantastic and the flavours are starting to come through on my other liquids after 4 weeks.

I am kind of new to this forum. When I initially replied I did not know this was a 'BWB' thread. I had done a search on 'steeping' to try and figure out why some of my juices lack flavour and it took me to this particular thread which I actually thought was on 'steeping' and not on BWB products specifically. It wasn't until you accused someone of discussing other vendor's liquids that I realized this was in fact a BWB thread. I apologize if I have stepped out of line.

I was not aware you had any such affiliation with BWB.

I am in Australia and have no such affiliation with the vendor advertised on my banner apart from having bought their juices regularly. In Australia, the sale of nicotine prohibited and therefore I have no reason to have any commercial interest in seeing any particular vendor succeed.

Indeed, if this is a BWB thread then I don't think the thread's purpose is to advertise and promote favourably it's product. I think it is a reasonable discussion to bring up the steeping time of Don's juices. It is a well known fact that his juices do take a long time to steep so it's going to be an important topic in any discussion involving BWB juices.

Of course, once matured the juices are as good or better than any on the market which is why they are so popular.

By the way, if you are representing Don and his products I don't think you are doing him much of a service to make such accusations or to sanction all discussions of other vendors and any kind of queries on his liquids. I doubt that would be the kind of brand culture Don would want to convey.

Reguardless of all this , it is what it is...I will leave your posts & mine here In fact I will bring yours back to re- read...I represent Backwoods brew & no other...that is why we formed this forum to begin with...If you don't like the way it is run, then you can go elsewhere and ask your steeping questions & drop all you vender names to your hearts content..it is not allowed here, and I am sure that Don backs me on that 100%.
