I've never used silica. Tried Nextel but went back to the cotton with the quickness.

Here's another thread that will give you a rough idea of where to start. Keep in mind there are factors that will cause variations in you roverall resistance, but this thread is definitely worth a look-through

so, there's some threads in which folks are doing micro-coils in protanks, kayfuns, etc. You want to wrap your coil on a 1/16" drill bit, or 16 gauge juice needle/syringe. Wrap tight with all loops in full contact with each other. (30g would be ideal, but . . . ). Use your 28g and try 12 wraps (i think). That might put you on the low end of your spectrum. Get your wick inside it after wrapping. Sterile cotton balls from the drug store work great. Also, if you just want to try it once, pull the cotton off a q-tip (or two). Don't pack too much cotton in there.

I guess I'll just have to play with this for a while and measure each coil as I make it. I'll keep a log of what I do and see how I progress.
Gets a little harder with resistance and non resistance wire, but with a tad of tinkering, I'm sure I can get this. If not, anyone need 200 feet of slightly used wire??

I use cotton for the coil friendly flavors and german silica for my NET's.
No leaking, gurgling, flooding or dry hits.
Ok... what about good 100% cotton yarn for my wicks? I can boil them like spaghetti to clean it and feed them through the wick.

Cotton yarn isn't that good. There's a big difference. Yarn tastes like cotton, even after you boil it. It wicks ok, its ok.
sterile cotton fluff doesn't taste like cotton (at least, not after 2 toots), doesn't need boiling, wicks and holds juice just about better than anything.

I just grabbed a 1/16th drill bit from the machine shop. Holy tiny! Are you putting like 3 separate stands of cotton through that hole? If more....how???

I'm still getting to know my kayfun, when I get the kinks worked out I'm sure it will be my favorite but for now I have to say my DID with 28g, .8Ω on my Roller is my favorite.
