the smaller 1/16 has a smaller id then the 5/64 and is able to heat the juice at the core of the wick faster as its a combined effort as in its like you have two sides heating rather then one in the bigger id coil

the bigger coil will heat juice only at the edge (the inside surface of the coil) the center of the wick will be slightly cooler and as its wicking the juice from the center to the outer edge you also have the chance for dryer hits

plus twisted coils normally produce better flavour, they have a better surface area and the bumps, ridges and hollows pop and fire juice around a lot more, this is why I mainly only use 1/16id and either micro, braided or MM coils and maybe twisted lol we are spoilt for choice ;)

you will get a good vape off 1/8id if you have enough power to heat the coil enough, going down in id is kinda like turning up the power
I hope I got that right! :)

no problem :) what are you using(rba & ohms etc)?

even short DT's are good so long as they are wide bore and you have plenty big enough airhole?

I had a prob with harsh juice spitting and stopping me from going to low on the ohms, in the end I worked out it was the cotton I was using.. after another wash it was fine... I never thought the cotton would have such a big impact

anyhoo bed time zzzz

I twisted both Kanthal and Nichrome 28 gauge, two strands. On a 1/16 mandrel I did 5 wraps.

Kanthal .86 ohms
Nichrome .68 ohms

Just noticed, kind of weird the number are reversed.

Some guys on the site were helping me pull the taste out of some custards that I was getting ready to give up on, glad I asked because it worked out pretty good.

I'll have to give my cotton another boil and see if that slows it down. Could have been my wick was loose too, that creates a little spitting for me too.

It really didn't matter, I had good tasting custard and vanilla. I need to learn a couple more of those tricks!

I don't think I poured the water from off the top of my first batch of cotton I boiled, wasn't till I started going subohm I quickly realised, so for the first couple of months I was vaping this cotton... dam!!!.... back then I also thought that all cotton was a little harsh till it broke in lol

I ended up throwing a cotton ball in a cup of boiling water from the kettle which I then microwaved until the water boiled up again, poured the water from off the top which I think was the prob to begin with, rinsed then squeezed out water and dried... was perfect once dry, no harsh TH :D

Thanks CloudZ.

And I was talking about the perfect numeric values reversed between the two. I didn't notice or even think about it until I posted I it just caught me as weird.

Ah jeez... I didn't realize that was what you were talking about. I guess I have unknowingly trained myself to ignore numerical patterns in my education/profession, instead only thinking in unique values. Thinking in numerical patterns would probably cause me to constantly make mistakes. Thanks brain ;)

Anyway, back to the topic if it is still going.

LMAO...... No problem, glad I wasn't the only one that missed it the first time I looked at it.

Now there are two of us.
