I was trying to post here earlier than last night, but I guess it's not much different...


This isn't really a Gemstone, although it's formation has always fascinated me!!

Called Fulgurite (or "petrified lightning")... it is what happens when lightning strikes the ground and basically turns the sand into tubes lined with glass...

I've been a bit preoccupied with work so I haven't been keeping up with the forums like I would like to. I'm glad I found this thread. I guess it's better to get a late start on entering this contest than to have never found the thread at all! As a fellow Okie, I have to choose turquoise I my favorite stone since it is representative of the local culture. I might add that it would be gorgeous combined with a wood mod.
