A favorite of my family is the Pigeon Blood Ruby. We have a few heirlooms, so I guess great grandma really liked these rare beauties (as in her day I am sure they were not as easy to come by as just going to a jewelry store), then my grandma, then my mom.... My ruby was bought in Thailand, and is a Burmese, but will join the other heirlooms someday and my ancestor can wonder why so many rubies came down the line.

Of course ours are a LOT smaller and not as beautiful as this.
