Hi, I just joined the forum today. I'm looking to purchase a proper vape. I basically know nothing about them, and I'm pretty overwhelmed with all the options. I've had a Prosmoke unit for a couple years. I used it off and on, never really loved it. Recently the batteries just won't hold a charge. I purchased a couple Blue disposables I've been trying to smoke instead of American Spirit's, but the ecig just isn't the same for me. I find myself grabbing a cigarette every couple hours. Anyone have recommendations? I'll definitely need something that will survive just being thrown in a pocket while doing labor and will need a battery to get me through long days. Thanks.

I will say that was the hardest part for me,too. I finally found a setup that I enjoyed and then I was just done smoking. Unfortunately everyone is different in the setup they like. Personally my all day is an MVP 2 with an Iclear 30. When I get home from work I sit down with a mechanical and drip tip. I wish you luck in finding the one that works for you.

The MVP is a proven work horse, and a great starter mod. The tank that comes with it, is "OK"... but if you dont mind spending, an aerotank by kanger or a nautilus (w/BVC coils) by Aspire will knock it up to an even better level.

Bonus with the MVP.. you dont need to buy batteries and a charger too. Since it has them built in.

The Eleaf iStick is getting rave reviews, but supply and demand is iffy until production catches up. It's pocket sized, smaller than the MVP, and very capable from the reviews of those who have been lucky enough to get one. It's also under $50 and with a built in battery that Pbusdardo says lasted him a day and a half. I've seen pre-order pricing in the low $30s.

Another vote for the MVP. I'm fairly new and I came close to buying the cheapest battery and clearomizer I could find as a starter setup. I ended up reading a ton of posts here and decided not to waste the time, frustration, and money. I've had zero problems with it, even in my noobness, and haven't smoked at all since I got it. If you're trying to kick the habit, last thing you need is aggravation imo. =)

+1 on the MVP v2

1. Huge (2600 mah) battery
2. Variable Voltage - Voltage can be adjusted from 3.3 ~ 5.0 in 0.1 volt increments
3. Variable Wattage - Wattage can be adjusted from 6.0 ~ 11.0 in 0.5 watt increments
4. Ohms Meter - Reads the resistance of your atomizer
5. Pass through ability
6. $40 shipped at many online stores

I just don't love the idea of the tank sticking out on top. It seems like I would destroy it in my pocket while I'm working. My job is labor intensive at times. I know I will find myself vaping on the street at a job site and have to quickly throw the vape in my pocket to unload a truck or something. Has anyone had an issue with damaging your vape while it was in your pocket?

Another couple of votes for the MVP2.0 and iStick. The MVP is one of the most reliable workhorses in the regulated mod (battery) world. Priced right, good size, works like a truck. Once you figure out how much power you want to run through whichever tank you decide to use, you can find your sweet spot and be happy for months and months. The iStick is newer than the MVP and has a wider range of options for power and coils. Battery life is solid for up to a couple of days, depending on frequency of use. I have three, lol. But really at this stage of the game whatever appeals to you aesthetically and will be easy to use is what you should choose.

If I were you I'd choose between those two mods...but finding the right tank for you might be what helps you convert to Vaping once and for all. It can be tricky and sometimes fiddling with coils and flooding issues is what frustrates vapers the most. I'd seriously consider skipping a few steps and go ahead and invest in a quality glass tank like the Nautilus Mini. The company that makes that tank, Aspire, has recently upgraded their coil system and with a few exceptions (which likely can be due to user error) the general consensus is that flavor and overall performance (including longevity of the coil) is very very satisfying.

Good luck on your journey. Be patient with yourself and your gear and you will find what you're looking for.

eta just saw your last comment about durability. With a protective cage around a Nautilus (Aspire makes them) and a beauty ring around the connection to a mod like the MVP you would probably be ok.
