So I have finally decided to make the plunge into rebuildables. Been using clearo and carto tanks and finally feel like trying to build some coils. After researching the best rebuildables to start on I have decided to go with the IGO-L. I do have a few questions though.

I've watched some good coil building tutorial videos so far. I think I have decided to attempt a microcoil build that puts me somewhere between 1.6 - 2.0 ohms. I'm also planning on using silica wick over cotton. Does anyone have any better ideas as to where to start? Also, when trying new flavors do I need to make a new coil each time or can I just put a few drops of each liquid and burn through that then try another flavor on the same coil? My main reason for getting into this is price and ease of trying new flavors. I'm fed up with spending $15 each time for a 5 pack of replacement coil heads for my tank. Any recommended links to other coil building tutorial vidoes and articles would be appreciated.

Looking forward to jumping into coil building. Thanks everyone...this place has been a tremendous resource.

IMO I think that's a perfectly fine place to start. I only recently started building coils and I can't really imagine not building my own now. There does seem to be a serious learning curve for me but I'm having fun and it's well worth any aggravations I have had. There is a ton of info on this part of ECF Rebuildable Atomizer Systems so you may want to check that out. Good luck to you and have fun.

You can just burn through the flavors but what reason do you don't want to use cotton? I love using cotton cause all I have to do is slide the cotton out and put fresh in without wrecking my build. Plus I never could get the hang of wrapping the wire around silica. What I do now is use a allen wrench to wrap it around, take it off and squeeze it with tweezers while under a lighter. Then I put it back on the allen wrench while I mount it on the posts.

why aren't you using cotten as a wicking material?? if your wrapping a coil around a silica wick if you want to change out the wick, you have to pull the coil out as well.
if your using cotten, when the cotten get too gunked up, pull out the cotten, dry burn the coil, add a fresh wick and your good to go. plus cotten is dirt cheap :)

Thanks for the tips everyone. The guy at the shop sold me on a patriot clone....looks like I could have gotten it cheaper online but oh well. I also decided to go with organic cotton instead of the silica. My current battery is an mvp 2 so I'm needing the ohms to be between 1.5 and 2.0. When the guy at the store built the dual coil, it was only coming out to 1.0. I had him take off the second coil so I could get the higher ohms. After getting home I decided that I'm going to attempt to rebuild two coils with enough wraps to get me up in the desired ohm range. Oh and I'm using 28 g kanthal. I also watched a video of a guy doing a double coil wrap with 28 g but doubling up the wire on each wrap to get him in the higher ohm range. Looking forward to getting into dripping and experimenting with coil building.

In order to get 1.5 ohms with dual micro coil using 28ga Kanthal you are going to need more than 20 wraps per coil. If you have an Android device download Vaper's Toolbox. It will help you figure out what you need to accomplish your goals.

I use an IGO L, 1/16th inch drill bit for a mandrel, five wraps of 32 gauge Kanthal gives me about 1.8 ohms. Wick with cotton. Works very well with very little trouble when making the coil and wick. Pull the drip tip, eight drops of liquid and vape away. I generally just change juices on the go without worrying about the flavors getting mixed up..
