Oh heck, the longer the better

I just usually dump it in there, dump some dry onion soup mix over it, pour some cola on there (yes, cola, not diet, the stuff with sugar) and cook it all day,,,,,,,,,,

then I pull it apart, mix up my BBQ sauce, pour that over the whole thing and let it go another hour or two,,,,,,,,,

Oh my. someone else that enjoys that recipe. Just a few diffs. I use fresh ground pepper medley, ground sea salt, minced garlic, chopped carrots, wedged onions (Vadalia preferred), chopped celery and a bay leaf or two. I don't use any soup mixes.

I then use a bit of da 'cola liquor' in da BBQ sauce (Bull's Eye when in a hurry or lazy; usually da latter!).

After da meal, I fine strain da 'cola liquor', refrigerate a while, remove any top fat and vac seal in a FoodSaver canister. Da next time, I use half 'cola liquor' and half cola for da 10 - 12 hours in da crock pot! Dat liquor just gets better n' more flav intense!!!
