Fight for Your Right to #Vape - Daily Action Plan for Wednesday, 04.09.14
___
#Illinois Senators will soon be hearing about the importance of packaging standards for ecig liquids. #NoBrainer.

HB 5869 fails to acknowledge that the industry is already in compliance, for the most part, with common sense child resistant packaging. The bill also tasks the Dept. of Public Health with the chore of developing the standards; a department that knows little to nothing about the products. In the interim, the sale of ecig liquid would be banned.

Let’s reach out to Illinois Senators and help them understand how unnecessary & harmful this bill is.

In Illinois, HB 5869 passed the House 105 to 10 with only one Democrat voting against it. With the Dems in control of the Senate it will be an uphill battle to stop the bill. But we gotta let them know that this a bill that endangers ex-smokers who rely on these products, and it's a business killer. I've got a local vape shop not far from my home that makes some really good e-juices. They already use childproof caps, but if they have to stop selling while they wait for new regulations, I don't see how they'd survive. The devices they sell are good name brand items, but they can't compete price-wise with what's available on the Internet. I expect without their e-juice customers they wouldn't survive.

The people in IL need to write letters stating that
there is, indeed enough research
The bill is unfair, biased and helpful only in getting people killed from tobacco use
You will not only not vote for that candidate who votes for it, but will post in all social media that they support harm instead of harm-reduction
Send as a registered letter, so someone has to sign for it.

At least this is what I will do should this insanity infect FL.
