Did for me at least. After 30 years of smoking, reaching 40 a day, I just swapped to vaping instantly. After 2 months of not smoking, curiosity got the better of me, and so one evening I bummed a few analogues as a test...what would happen to my quit attempt I thought!

No problem at all; from the next morning, nearly a month ago now, I've just been vaping along happily with no desire at all to smoke.

For some lucky types like me, it's easy as cake (a piece of pie) and we can just swap. Some others have to put in more effort it seems, but it's still worth it. So yes, they work very well, and that's why the Big Tobacco and Big Pharma are scared to death, and lobbying governments globally to regulate and devalue e-cigs in the mind of the still smoker. If you ever needed proof, there it is.

did you put weight on with no smoking that is wot iam worried about

Nope. I even read that some non smokers use e-cigs to loose weight. Most say they have lost weight vaping as they use the flavours instead of high calorie treats. In my case I just have heaps more energy, and have even started to run.

did you put weight on with no smoking

well i don't know about that yet, it has only been a week. :D but - i do notice my craving for sugar and sweets is ALSO much less now. i don't know why that is - maybe the sweet flavored juices satisfy my sweet tooth? or maybe it's not related at all.

But in any case, I've not been eating any more than usual. Since using the E-cig mimics the behaviour of having a cigarette in the mouth and being able to take puffs, I don't feel any need to assuage the "oral fixation" by putting more food in my mouth. :p So I'm not expecting to gain any weight.

Welcome jackie.

Be careful on ebay. A lot of it is not good and nicotine products are banned... so if you buy something specifically "e-cig" or "nicotine" you are taking a risk. You could run into difficulty, but it's rare.

Yes, they work. The plastic stick systems (cig-a-likes) you see on the high street are less effective. The top brand of those claims to offer an amount of "puffs" equivalent to x amount of cigarettes. They might do the puffs, but they don't do the nicotine. Not even close.

If has been proven (through science, not advertising!?) that one refill from the "top brands" offers less than half a pack of light cigarettes... tell your friends, please. Most of them in reality do not work.... unless a placebo is a legitimate product.

Have a look here for kit

Vape Escape

and here for liquid

LT Ecigs

and here for "clearomisers" and batteries/mods

Myepack.co.uk

and lastly, another

Your e-cig doesn't need to be special to work, but it does need to make decent vapour/nicotine and be reliable.

Dave.

Was a smoker for 16 years. Pack and a half a day of Marlboro Lights. I was able to quit using an ego style set up back in November. To be specific, it was a generic, 650 mAh, ego style, variable volt (can adjust power by clicking the fire button 5 times), passthrough (can vape while it's charging) battery that came in a blister pack with a generic bottom coil clearo (tank where the heating coil is on the bottom). For a moderate to heavy smoker, I would not recommend anything smaller then an ego. Battery power and vapor production would make a pretty unsatisfied smoker with something the size of a cigarette, so go for something the size of a cigar (ego) at least.

I also recommend variable volts, as I was able to increase the power when stronger urges hit. This proved to be pretty valuable to me. Now that I'm pretty much out of danger, I still enjoy variable volts because different flavors taste better on different settings. Also, a coils resistance (ohms) can differ, even if you get coils that are supposed to be the same as what you are used to. Generally, the higher the ohms, the more power you will need. A variable volt device will let you adjust accordingly.

Finally, I recommend a glass tank or clearo to all new vapers. One of the easiest to maintain, clean, etc is the Mini Protank II by Kanger. I also recommend the Aspire BDC ET-S. The Aspire will be cheaper, but the replacement coils are typically more then single Kanger coils. Some say they produce more vapor and flavor however, so it may be worth the money. Also, I believe people have recently had less issues with aspire coils then Kanger coils.

yes, it works for a lot of people here-worked for me very well-everyone is different-some taper down slowly, some go all vape right away-you gotta go with what works for you-but hope the set up you choose makes the transition smoothly and works well. weight-stayed about the same-once my taste returned from not smoking, food had much more appeal-I personally need to cut down junk food and exercise more in general to lose a few pounds that stuck after having my second son and being middle aged in general-I wouldn't say it has anything to do in my case with e cig use/quitting cigarettes..good luck to you, read a lot here because there's a wealth of info-some confusing at first and overwhelming, but once you get a feel of what works for you personally-it will make more sense-welcome to ecf
