A friend and I just took a lung test (breathing tube thingy) at work. Its supposed to measure the amount of Carbon Monoxide in your lungs. She was quit cold turkey 2 weeks today, I'm using my e-cig. Thought it would be a good comparison test.

We both blew the same! We both are non-smokers according to the test.

Whooooot Whoooooot

I'm going to make an appointment with our doctor JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT!!!

I'm going to ask him about that lung test thingie. I had asthma as a kid, and had pneumonia about a year ago, so I'm sure there's some scar tissue, and my lung capacity will never be 100%.

But, after a few months of NO tobacco, capacity has GOT to be better than it was.

I am amazed at what I can do, like walk great distances at a brisk pace (the whole length of the mall), climb stairs while carrying heavy equipment... all kinds of stuff I've not been able to do in a few years.

Viva E-cigs!!!

Paula,

Congrats and a question...

Are you a nurse at the hospital
or
you're not a nurse and had to take mandatory "suprised" test?

(You don't have to answer if you wish)

No to both LOL!!! It was for the .... out program at work, if you can stay tobacco free for 30 days, you can win a prize, the blow test is just to see if your tobacco free :)

I'm so glad you posted this!! I've been wondering if I would be considered by my insurance company to be a non-smoker. Our insurance costs extra each month because I smoke. I've been wondering if I were to take the test now if I would get the better rate for not smoking. I should get the test too!

Realize that this is only one type of test.

Carbon Monoxide has a relatively short halflife in the body, and is a pure combustion product - you essentially can't get it unless you're using a flame. It's one of the biggest toxins in analogs, naturally, and is completely absent from vaping, as this test showed.

However, a blood test would flag vapers as "smokers" (unless you're vaping 0 mg) because the blood test looks for the metabolites of nicotine as the indicator.

That one is a real bummer I think. Using nicotine =/= smoking. I actually wonder if you could fail the cotinine test by eating a lot of eggplant...
