So, I saw one of these e-cigs at a local hookah store here in Chicago and didn't really pay any mind to it, until I came to the realization that I really should quit smoking. At 25 years old, I've been smoking since I was 11...or was it 12? Either way, I should/need to quit.

My problem begins with not knowing what is what. I've read, and read, and read...but I'm more confused than when I started. I have, however, come to realize what I would like from an ecig...

Throat hit - I think this is going to be a main thing for me. I've gotten "stale" packs of analogs (Marlboro Lights) that have not "felt right"...and have thrown them away because the throat hit wasn't right...

Size - I've become accustomed to the size of by beloved M.Lights...would like something very similar in size.

Amount of vapor - I think this is more of a psychological thing. You see what you're exhaling, and you feel like you're really smoking.

Am I dreaming? Flavor doesn't matter, I'm sure I'll experiment with liquids until I find that right blend/flavor, much like I've done with hookahs. Battery life is a plus, but I don't mind having to charge it...as long as it has USB. I have a $13 charger I bought from Wal-Mart which lets out 5V 1000mah to 2 USB ports...I also have one that spits out 12v thorugh the USB...maybe a mod for the modders out there? either way...that's that.

What can you guys/gals suggest for a bloke like me? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums. There really is a bit of trail and error on which e-cig will fit you. I started with the 901 which I think is a pretty good started. I eventually ended up on my favorite one which is the 510/dura/yeti. It is smaller then the 901 and seems to hold more juice. I vape all day long so I have many batteries which I would suggest buying extra spare parts. Trust me it is better to be safe then sorry.
Oh there is no guarntee you will stop smoking. I actually went it to e-cigs thinking it wasnt going to work. I was just going to use it in the house. For the most part I have stopped smoking. I might smoke 1-2 cigs every 2 weeks (for me that is stopped smoking). If my smoking friends are here.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I know a lot of quitting cigarettes is that you have to WANT to quit...as far as the ecigs go, how can you guys keep track of all the different types out there?...it seems like there's a million of them...or is it that they're all called different things, when there's really only a few out there?

Welcome Raven.. I too was in your shoes just two weeks ago. This place is amazing and has so much info on ecigs its almost overload. Find a good supplier and just jump on in, the waters fine. :D But seriously..just take it slow and don't worry about not smoking at first. I think you'll find that after a few days you'll want that cigarette less and less. Expect a learning curve and take it one day at a time. Best of luck to you.

Thanks again for all the input everyone. I've come to narrow it down to a few models that I think I like. Although I did read that it'll be a mistake with the "close to analog" ecigs...I think people are mainly saying that because of the battery life...which, with a USB charger, doesn't effect me.

DSE048, DSE201, and the BluCig. I just wish I could find the first 2 in black. Still reading and searching, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to order one today. Any input on suppliers in the midwest?

I think the 401 is a great choice (its what I use). I will tell you that one of the reasons I went for it was that it looked just like a cigarette. That quickly became a non-issue and I now would rather have it black with a blue led. Just cooler looking and looks less like you're "smoking" in public.
Definitel get 401 batteries as opposed to 402 or 403. The size difference isn't great but you'll appreciate the longer battery life.

I have made a couple of mods and I'll tell you that a manual battery (press a button to get vapor) is way better than the autos. If I had it to do over, I probably would get a 510 with manual batteries, but I don't want it enough to dump my 401 stuff.

Best of luck

John

Yeah, I'm getting it in black. That's one thing I want...health cabin has them in matte black, and have the 403 kit...I'm sure as a beginner it's not going to be so bad, but @ 10 per battery...it's not too bad. I'll just buy a few 401's and 2's....

As far as mods...I can't wait to get this thing. I don't think I own one thing that hasn't been modded in one way or another. I'll try to post mods of my own. Subtle, but useful. Depending on what I could do with it.
