hey guys long time no talk. i was an avid vaper back in the day and ive gotta say i cant thank yall enough. you helped me kick the analogs and still havent. no idea when my last post here was lol.
anyhow, broke out in the oil patch here in colorado and absolutely love it. i fell off the bandwagon and quit vaping and started chewing. im tired of the chew and really want to get back into vaping again. my last go-to ecig was a mkII screwdriver with a 510 low resistance atty and im sure that tech. has changed like crazy since then along with e-liquid and the industry as a whole.
i have really been looking at volcanos lava tube 2.5 but honestly, i dont know what to go with at this point. i think im getting old guys.
help a brother out on pointing me in the right direction on a good pv that i can throw out some kick ... throat hit and some of those old and very much missed billowing clouds of vapor. also, those clear tanks are bad ...! would be really nice not having to carry around a bottle of liquid and drip straight onto the atty.

much love yall!

Hey Shy and welcome back! I recently returned from a hiatus as well. I fell off the wagon but have decided to come back!

So I've recently gotten a Lavatube 2.5 and it's a decent device I also have a iTaste SVD which I tend to use mostly and I still have my old EGO batteries that I use from time to time too. I like both of my mods so I would say either would be a good choice. A less expensive way to get a VV device would be like a EVOD or Spinner that have VV but are still EGO size.

I'm rocking a Kanger Pro Tank 3 on my SVD at the moment but I also have 3 iClear 30's that I use and I do really like. I have an iClear 30B (bottom coil) but it's leaking so I need to check it out.

As for juice I'm still checking out the different and new vendors. I got in a variety pack from Halo and so far I like them. I also like Uncle Junk's Genius Juice. The Jon Wayne is really good. Then there's still the old staples out there it's cool that they survived. So as for juice you just have to start sampling again.

Again, welcome back and good luck!

Depending on your budget have a look at a REO with either a standard dripping atty or a RM2 rebuildable. It is dripping with an onboard bottle you just squeeze to send juice up into the atty.

they look nice, but looking at the website it seems that they dont include chargers or.... well anything with it. im looking for essentially a complete kit. and if i remember right, back in the day when i was vaping i really liked the low resistance (high voltage) vape. im glad to see that halo is still around. torque was my go to liquid haha

The MVP 2 is a very well priced box mod that is variable voltage, variable wattage, ohm checker and puff counter. Can be had for $40 and you can learn about all those new advanced features for cheap. Mine has been pretty durable too. Fell down subway stairs and just a scratch. As for toppers, I prefer carto tanks. Great taste, no buildings coils, no cleaning coils, and the cartos can last in the tanks through 30 ml of fluid. Once the carto dies, you can swap in another primed carto, even with the tank still full of liquid if you get the non flanged cartos. However, with flanges that tank is more secure, so that's down to preference. Priming the carto is easy, but time consuming sometimes, depending on how you do it. There are several methods. However, considering their life in a tank, I don't find that an issue. I spend far more time maintaining the coils in my husbands MIni Protank II's then I do on my carto tanks.

thanks for the info bro! how does the adjustable wattage/voltage thing work on the lavatube? i dont want to be blowing my coils up while im trying to play with settings or anything.

You adjust voltage to suit your taste basically. Start low, hit the button going up until you get the hit you're looking for. Wattage is essentially the same thing. Difference is, once you set wattage, the device adjusts itself to that same wattage, no matter the resistance of your coils. It's like driving in automatic, while variable voltage is driving a manual car. Once you change your coil, you'll have to readjust voltage to get your hit if you are in variable voltage. As variable wattage is really a calculation between volts and ohms, your device does the math and just give you that hit you set.

I think you'll do okay with an MVP or any other variable volt or watt device. The MVP 2 goes up to 11 watts. Usually, I wind up with a burnt taste past 9 watts, so 11 should be more then enough for most people. And it won't matter what resistance your coil is. Low resistance or high resistance, a variable wattage device will give you the same hit you set and like, no matter what you put on top.

On most of the devices it's a simple button up/down for voltage or for watts. On a new atty I start it at 3.7 and work my way up to my preferred taste. I have not yet blown a coil with going too high but I'm sure it's possible it just starts tasting bad and you know to back off of the volts. The variable wattage is nice as you can play adjust that and then when you switch an atty say you put on a tank that has a low resistance atty of say 1.5ohm and the other tank has a 2.0ohm if using variable watts the voltage is adjusted automatically to give the same/similar vape as the other tank. The tech has improved a lot over the years.

You'll start reading about the sub ohm vaping and the cloud chasers and the rebuildable attomizers and all of the stuff out there. I'm staying away from that stuff for now I just don't want to get into it just yet. The rebuildable atty is cool and appeals to my geekiness but I don't want to fuss with one just yet.

The post about the MVP 2 is also a solid device and seems to be very popular. There's basically the tube and box mods and then you get into the mechanical mods that are straight mechanicals no/little electronics and you have to use a low res atty to get a good vape. Some love'em some don't. I like my SVD for now and will some day upgrade to a Provari but now for a while. That's my gift to me once I drop the analogs completely again. Hopefully soon.
