I smiled... you know what's funny? I, for sure know your name from around the forum, but I always "assumed" that you were a guy based on username alone.
That is pretty funny! I admit, I've done it myself quite a few times for the exact reason you mentioned lol.
I never thought someone would mistake me for a guy, but it's all good. Can't be offended by something I know I've done myself.

Sometimes I wish there was a little 'F' or 'M' somewhere near the avatar. There are several people that, unless you know them, there is no clue whether they are male or female. Then you have the avatars that show a couple. So who is posting? The female in the picture or the male? 
Yeah, mine is only the 3rd username I've had since my online life began 20yrs ago and I still use the other two also. When I find something that works, I work it.

My daughter used to change her user name on Facebook once a week. If the user name gets passed through from Facebook to here, that could explain what you saw. On FB, a user name is different than an account name.

Oh man, when I first got here someone was telling another posters about all the female posters here that “looked” like guys on the forum. One I distinctly remembered because I thought the graphic they used for their avatar was pretty darned cool. Months later I referred to that person as a she. It wasn’t Bad but he did say something (not unkind at all) that made me want to guiltily bury my head in a pillow for a month.
I sucked it up, apologized and explained why I thought the he was a she since it was blatantly clear I wasn’t the only fool that read that bloody post. He (the former she in my mind) was kind and forgiving but I still did the 5 yard dash for the pillow.

I think I'm going to change mine. I have NO idea why I picked "Atchafalaya". I guess because I had just come back from Louisiana on a visit with family. A lot of people think I'm a guy because of that name.
Kudos to ya! That's a possibility I hadn't thought of. I doubt it though. To add to my initial confusion, it appears that some are male names, while others are female. :/

I may have been a year ago, or so. There was a thread that went, 'Am I a girl or a boy?' We were to guess based upon user names and avatars. It was fun. If any one wants to start it up, I will play.
