HOLY GUACAMOLE!!! Sheesh, that's too cool, my friend; but too much! It would be one thing if I had the "perfect" idea and no means to execute it; but I don't, and I could sacrifice one of my own if I were that close to it.

Also, tho, this durability issue . . . . there would have to be some kind of a threaded connection, as most people seem to have an aversion to vaping aluminum, methinks. I've thought about just gasketting out the hole for a positive post, drilling right into the aluminum shoulder (base of the catch cup) and mounting a neg post directly, then seating a cap inside the catch cup (o-rings? . . . threaded?) .. . . . . . but it would make for an aluminum atty. As soon as you get away from that, say an SS atty, it has to be attached somehow; and that means press-fit or screwed. I actually think the threads on the REO 510 are pretty sturdy; so I'd hate to go through all that only to discover that the threading I chose is no stronger.

my atty bent before the 510 thread did last week on yet another trip to the floor. Was a nuisance to get off and i think it has damaged my centre pin in the 510, because there is a discernible movement now. I will rebuild it when my spare rebuild kit rolls in, because i hate to leave myself without one.

It may have knackered the RM2, but it's hard to tell since it works and my precision method of checking the straightness of the threads on the RM2 is limited to rolling it on the table or floor to see if i can detect any wobble.

My wife thinks i am mad chasing this all over the floor and she might have a point.
