Have tried my luck with SS mesh/micro coils w/ cotton wick on a kraken clone, RSST pyrex, AGA T2, and genny tank, every build I do, has little to no vapor production at all, and I get a burnt taste.. What is the problem? My RM2 for my REO grand always works well with micro coils,I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thinking about just sticking to dripping and trying my luck with RDA's. Also Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, I'm expecting a Sentinel M16, and trident/stillare RDA this week, so stoked!

Takes a lot of precision to make a Genesis style work well. Some take to it naturally but many, myself included, have a very hard time getting them to work proficiently.
An open center 500 mesh with a piece of silica threaded through the center has been my most successful to date. This is on my RSST

Frankly, I have move on to Kayfuns and the newest Orchid Tanks. Rayon wicks and excellent flavor.
Kayfuns are not Vapor heavy but are a very nice vape.
Orchid is a Lung hitters Tank and can rip flavor and decent clouds.

I've never tried kayfuns or worked with silica, it looks harder than SS mesh and cotton builds haha. I've been favoring micro coil cotton builds. A buddy of mine who just got into RBA's picked up a kayfun, and it's hitting nice. I think I'll give that a try pretty soon. Heard the new aspire atlantis hit pretty hard as well

I had the best success using SS Cable with a thin 400 mesh wrap at the top for wrapping the coil on. The cable wicks surprisingly well, even with high VG.

As for coiling on that wick, I had the best results wrapping a spaced wrap (not micro coil) directly on the wick while it was mounted in the atty. Thicker wire, such as 26ga or 27ga seems to be easier for working out the hotspots without popping the wire in the process.

They're an awesome vape if you have the patience to learn and practice how to set them up and maintain them.

That being said, in comparison to an RTA like a Kayfun style atomizer, they are a unnecessary pain-in-the-..., and as such, I don't bother with them anymore. Easier and arguably better vapes can be had without the fuss.

I heard Foggers can be tough; start with a Kayfun 3.1 (or possibly Russian 91%) clone from Fasttech it's like $16 iirc (plus they have a 10% code right now). Easy build plus easy to fill because you can do so from the top instead of the stupid hole without it gurgling or leaking. The key is simply to flip it over and finish tightening the top cap after flipping the whole thing over upside down. Teh Kayfun Lite Plus V2 I have gurgles to hell and have to use bottom fill port requiring me to unscrew.

I started with one a couple months ago and have never had a problem (and have since branched out to plenty of other rebuildables). Just watch a build video or too and pay attention to wicking tips. You want to really moisten the wick with juice before you put the outer tank piece on and fill to make sure no dry fires.

I appreciate the input, I just placed an orger for an Orchid and quartz tank kit. Hopefully this does the trick haha, btw, I'm not sure if it's still up here, I'm still searching for it. There was a thread showing kanthal A-1 wraps per resistance, e.g. 28g, 8 wraps =, 29g 9 wraps=, and so on. Do you know of it? I also have that excel spreadsheet, but I just wanna get a basic understanding of what gauge I need to hit around 0.5-1.2 ohms

I haven't used any of the gear you mentioned. So I really can't say what you might be doing wrong. I know I finally figured out my Kayfun Lite and that is my only tank. And I just got it for use in the car. The rest of the time I drip.

Yeah, I really like my REO grand, pretty much a BF dripper, I've never successfully built an RBA, hopefully this orchid works, but I also picked up a trident and igo-w RDA, I'll probably be dripping more as well.

I know you just placed an order for an RTA, but it might work better for you to try different toppers for the reo. Anything dripping can do, reos can do (arguably better), and you already know that the juice storage issue is sorted with them.

Way ahead of you bud, trying to place an order for that custom BF Odin atty as well haha. Just wanted drippers for my other mech mod.

I'm not familiar with the Kraken's, but I know gennies pretty well. Since you mentioned using a cotton wick I will assume it's not a hot spot on the coil. Are the air holes perfectly centered in front of the coils, with the coils at the same height as the air holes?

yes to everything, I tried to mess around with SS mesh aon the gennies as well, but with cotton I was getting further with it, I could taste the juice a bit, a little more vapor prod., but still no luck, I gave up haha, my RBAs were all clones too, not sure if that played a role in it.

I was just going to post a link to steam engine, great site for all building calculations.

Op I have the Orchid, Fogger V4, kayfun 3.1& lite, and kraken RTA s, all clones from fasttech. There's a learning curve to all of them, kayfun being the easiest, closely followed by foggers and the orchid, and lagging way behind is the kraken. I still haven't got that thing down completely.

Kayfun is good flavor wise, if you don't mind a rather tight draw, it's really easy to build/ wick properly.

Orchids and foggers have great airflow, and are pretty easy to wick. Excellent flavor and vapor production, leaps and bounds ahead of kayfun IMO.

For $8 you can't go past the orchid.

I appreciate the info! Yeah, I was def leaning towards those 3, but read more good reviews about the Orchid, definitely looks like something I'll enjoy, I've had 0 Luck with RBA's, so hopefully this gets me on the other side of the fence. Did you get the quartz kit too?
