I'm going to order a Provari, and this is why.

I feel like I should also say that when I posted this thread, I was too rough on the vendor. It is not his fault I got a bad vmax. He is a busy man and he took care of my problem in a reasonable amount of time. I don't want to denigrate the vmax either. I think there are QC issues with it, that's been pretty well documented. I've had some time with my replacement vmax now and I am definitely impressed. It's a powerhouse, to be sure. It's sturdy and attractive. That being said, if something breaks past the vendor warranty period there is really no practical way to get it repaired. Some people really seem to like the high spikes in its PWM. I think I'm going to prefer the more precise output of the Provari. I still believe that the Provari is a much better value. I believe it's more of an investment, which I find really appealing. I'm sick of diposable PV's. I like to keep things for the long haul.

Provari would be much better value if you buy it tomorrow with 5% discount for labor day ;)

Satin silver ships in 2-5 days. This is day 5. I have the day off, so I'm circling the Provape website like a buzzard over a gut-wagon.

I don't want to get your hopes up, but one of mine arrived the day they updated the shipping. The other two were clean and track-able, but it does happen. I'm hoping this is one of those times.

I love the "buzzard over a gut-wagon" part :)

That was the most accessible obsessive website stalking simile I had at the moment.

That would be a lovely surprise, but don't worry, I'm not counting on it. It's doubtful since the charge on my card is still pending.

My Provari is now in service. The vmax has been relegated to back up and is back in its box. It is likely to stay there for a long time.

Just out of curiosity, do you see a difference in actual performance? I don't own a VMAX but my understanding was that the performance is similar, but ProVari gets the nod in build quality. So, again, I'm both curious and interested, Lt. Col..

I really don't see much of a difference, aside from the vmax feeling like 3.7v when its at 3. I really see no benefit from that. I'm not a big fan of dual coils, maybe there would be some advantage to the vmax on those. If I should decide to give those another shot the vmax may come in handy with that 5 amp switch. The thing that has my mind made up is just what you said at the end, build quality. The vmax that I have is not the stainless one, although my original was. So, I've seen the one made from SS, and the one made from brass. The threads are actually a little smoother on the brass one. That seems a little counter-intuitive to me and that just leads me to believe that these things are built without much consistency. Regardless, the theads on both of them are not even close to the ones on the Provari. The Provari is much heavier. Much has been made of the price difference between the two devices, around seventy dollars. Well worth it to me.

Thanks. And yes, on the price difference. If it lasts only one year, that's less than $6 per month. One pack of Marb Medium, around these parts, runs about $11. I smoked close to two packs per day.

I too am good with six-dolla. :2c:

I started smoking when I was twelve. Was completely hooked by the time I was 15. Smoked a pack and a half/day of Parliament's for 15+ years. So yeah, when I think about the money in those terms, seventy dollars, puh-leese.

For that extra money you get device support, imagine that. Can you imagine sending something to Shenzen to get it repaired?

Sure! Leaded or Unleaded? ;-)

The longer I use this device, the more I like it. I have meat hooks for hands and this thing feels fantastic. I hold it like a big fat cigar when I'm vaping on it. Trying to decide how best to carry it. I've been looking at those holsters from serenity gear. The idea of having one of those things attached to my belt struck me as being on the dorky side, but I'm warming to it. I think I'm getting too old for vanity anyway. Besides that, I probably am a dork, might as well embrace it.
