It shouldn't take me long to do a complete switch. My last fight with pneumonia is what has me motivated. I've lost the last three weeks of my life. I'm determined to not let it happen again.
Same here! For the last few winters before quitting, I would get flu, followed by pneumonia and I would be flat on my back sick as a dog for weeks. Happy to report I haven't used my asthma pump for many, many months and not even a sniffle or cough all winter. Healthy as a horse lol...

A while back I got a nice little helping of Asthmatic Bronchitis that kinda kicked me in the throat and said "Hey! You! STOP SMOKING!!!" Took me a while but once I got a PV in my hand the analogs went in the trash the same day.

Congrats on making the switch and if you need anything a "help me" post here will get you like 20 responses almost immediately. Really great bunch of folks here.

Welcome aboard!

Brand new here. My advice, have fun with it! Get a decent quality kit, don't go overboard, and enjoy. I had a regular cig this evening (first one today) and it just didn't satisfy. I am not pushing myself...but it is happening naturally pretty fast.

It seems easier to get away from cigs by enjoying vaping.

I bought 2 different kits and i spent my cigarette budget for the rest of the month. This way i have a backup plan and hopefully something i can pass on to someone else later on. My friends mother is on oxygen and still sneaks outside for a cigarette once in a while.

I plan to keep busy and literally clean house. First thing Monday morning i will begin washing the smoke smell from everything in my home. At the very least there will be no more actual smoking in my home or car.

I don't want to see an ashtray or smell anything.

Good idea! I removed and washed all ashtrays, and packed away all lightrs etc. from sight the night before quitting. I also checked all my bags, drawers and secret stash places for any remaining packs... Emptied all bins and took trash out. I then avoided my usual smoking pit stops...
A week later I bought one of those small floor steamers and steam cleaned the walls, floors, cupboard doors, mirrors, light fixtures etc. etc. and washed all the curtains. I washed or dry cleaned all my coats and stuff like that, and thoroughly aired everything.
Now all one can smell in my house is cookies or strawberries or other yummy, yummy things lol.

Howdy and Welcome to ECF.
Glad to hear that you are going to try vaping. Best advice is to think of it as changing brands and not quiting smoking. That at least help me with the transition. Worst case is you may not find that right flavor at first but remember there is always different places to try.
Good luck

No, I'm not procrastinating. I ordered some things online and they won't arrive until tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for having this great forum for noobs like me !!!

Amen! My Volt kit is on its way right now. I keep checking on the shipping tracking information hoping it has magically gotten closer. I've tried to quit smoking a couple of times and keep falling back.

I ordered some blanks and some extra juice to try so the Mrs and I can both give it a shot this weekend. It would be great to not be buying analogs next week.

What did you buy?

My first day vaping was with a disposable Blu. It calmed the nic fits, but didn't taste as good or feel as close to smoking as I had hoped. I was a little discouraged in the beginning because I didn't enjoy vaping as much as I thought I would. After an extensive juice quest to find the right nicotine level, PG/VG ratio, and flavors, however, I couldn't be happier.

Don't worry if you're not immediately blown away or can't quit the cigarettes on day 1. It may just be that you haven't found the perfect set-up yet. That doesn't mean there isn't something better out there.

Also, don't forget to drink a lot of water. Vaping can dehydrate you, and drinking lots of water can also speed up the process of flushing out the toxins from smoking. There are also some symptoms you may experience when switching to vaping, but they do wear off.

Feel free to ask any question or discuss any concerns you may have. And welcome to the forum! !

jjdemu - Absolutely right. I keep telling myself it's change. I failed at quitting before because i went from something that was a major part of my life to doing nothing. This time i will be doing something.

Baptyzmbyf1re - I am doing the same thing. I have 2 tabs open and i keep checking back hoping they will come early. Both orders will be here this afternoon with my regular mail.

I ordered the Blu kit and the Joye 510 kit. I know the Blu doesn't get a lot of good reviews but i figured it was one that was simple enough to pass on to someone i have in mind. She won't bother with refilling cartos or upgrading to anything fancy. My friends mother is on oxygen and sneaks outside for cigarettes every day. Maybe after i get started i will be able to pass the Blu to her as a no fuss system. It won't cost her any more than she is already spending and it very well could be the thing she needs to get her lungs a little healthier.

I saw a lot of good reviews for the Joye 510 as a nice starter set up. Watched a lot of videos of people using them and it seems friendly enough for me. Won't surprise me if i end up changing to something new in a month or so.

A lot of people have complained about wasting money in the beginning. I don't see it as a waste when you are upgrading and upgrading. Each step of the way will be well worth the investment and will leave me with something i can pass along to someone else.

Stormlark - Thanks for the reminder about drinking lots of water. I have a nice 64 oz bottle that's perfect for carrying around.

The juices i bought are high in nicotine and i made a list of some nice mixing ratios so i have lots of playing to do. I ordered a couple simple flavors and then also some that should jolt my taste buds. One woman on YouTube explained that certain flavors don't mix well with different foods and drinks so she switches throughout the day.

I expect my lungs to give me some issue. Right now i can't even go outside and breathe in fresh air without problems. I refilled my inhaler and at some point today i need to go buy items specific for my transition. Cigarettes of course, Cough syrup which i need either way and lots of flavored water.

A lot of people hesitate because of the initial start up cost. I look at it this way. My inhaler is $80 every time i get it filled. The antibiotic that i started 5 days ago is $197 per round. The cough syrup was so expensive the pharmacist just gave me a look and i didn't bother to ask. She recommended Delsym and that probably worked better and doesn't have the codeine in it that i prefer not to have anyway. Then you add up all of the other things, night time medicines and day time medicines, all of the over the counter things i take on a regular basis. Then add in the cigarettes.

Even if i spend more money on vaping than i do on smoking, i will still end up ahead.

If you smoked in your car ... febreez or OdorBan(my preferred) works great. Just remember to clean the headliner (The cloth that covers the inside of the roof). That is where most smoke smell really gets into. Also, with the car off you can spray some febreez into the A/C vents and let it sit for awhile. Then turn the A/C on and set it to MAX/Recirc. That's the setting that draws air into the system from inside the car ... the intake is usually around the floor of the passenger side. Spray more febreez up in there. Really helps get it through all the air hoses. If you're having problems finding the intake, while car is on max, use a plastic bag and you'll see it get sucked up to the vent.

And it's today now! Has the mail arrived? :)
