So - I sadly left vaping behind for a few (3 years) and came back to a vaping world that changed so much. I was using the "original" squonker, the REO's (I've only kept 3 Woodvils) when I left. While I enjoyed the flavor of building my own coils, I never enjoyed the process of building them, and my eyesight isn't what it used to be, so my blood pressure slowly would rise as I'd try to thread the legs of my coils into the RM2 posts for 15 to 20 minutes because I kept missing the holes.....sigh......

So - I went to my local vape shop and told them I wanted something easy. I don't do DL hits (wish I could but I would probably pass out from the amount of coughing). I can't even say I do a true MTL hit - because my throat is so sensitive. They set me up with a Sinuous P80 with an Aspire Nautilus 2. Love it, but I would like more than a 2 ML tank, and this one seems to need to be refilled at 2 ML, or you start to get some dry hits if you aren't vaping it holding the mod vertically.

So, dummy me - I bought a Prince tank and for some reason, I thought that I could put a 510 tip in it. Nope. Lightly tried it, and I'm getting some good taste, but really can't vape it like I'd hoped. Is there some trick to DL vaping where you don't die in the process? LOL

In any case, I would like a higher capacity tank that while it might be a DL tank, you can switch the wide bore tip for a 510 tip, with coils that last for weeks (the Falcon lets you change the tip, yes?).

I am waiting for the new Innokin Zenith to come in. Are there any other suggested tanks that you can "modify" by using a 510 tip? I don't mind the lower ohms, I just can't do DL hits no matter how hard (or tentatively) I try. I'm a flavor chaser, not a cloud chaser, if that make any difference?

Um, I haven't had that much luck "modifying" a DL tank to be more MTL although it can be sort of done, with some of them. But, they're really not designed for low wattage. Your best bet if you want a crossover tank in my opinion would be something like the Crown Uwell 3, it's really designed for sub0hm but does have some higher ohm coils.

Other MTL tanks that are good: The ijoy elf tank (much easier topfill and actually 2 ml capacity (the N2 is really 1.7 if you are using the fill line). The ego mega one V2 tank is also good, or a Tron-S tank, but you have to use the Joytech CLR 1.0 resistance coils in them, the magic is in the coil. They last forever and are really designed to be rewicked and rebuilt with a lot more ease, but the original coils last a long time and give great flavor.

If you like the nautilus coils, the Kabuki tank is going to get the best flavor out of them. I actually prefer the 1.6 coil (it doesn't come with the N2 but it exists) as a nice balance, although if you are looking for more vaper production, perhaps the 0.7 coil is better for you. Kabukis are bottom fill however, and can be a bit tricky, they are also pricey.

I think you will like the Zenith, it is a solid, well built MTL tank. It seems the 0.8 coil is a flavor monster right out of the gate, while the 1.5 coil has a break in period of about 8 ml where the flavor is a bit muted. The coils last forever. They are expensive, but they really last.

I guess you could try the vapefly Nicholas tank, it's designed to be a "slightly sub0hm" MTL vape and it does provide more vapor on the 0.6 coil. Flavor is decent.

If you do want to get into rebuildables at some point, the Innoken Ares and the Siren V2 are both MTL vapes that are really easy to use and build on. I have both and I like them both. I have a fine motor tremor that makes building harder, but I really find building on these tanks to be very easy so you may want to look into them at some point.

But, you certainly have options other than the N2. Fair disclosure, I QUIT with that tank but have moved on to MTL vapes I enjoy far more.

Best of luck and welcome back!

Anna

I'll suggest the ORIGINAL Uwell Crown tank. Although advertised as a sub-ohm tank, it does have 1.2 ohm stainless steel drop-in coils available. It has a ratcheted air control ring which can be adjusted for DL or MTL. I dislike metal tips, so I put a delrin Cherry Vapes tip on mine. 4 ml liquid capacity. Easy top fill. Coils last me at least 4 weeks.

The Crown 3 tank suggested by Stols001 above uses 0.25 ohm Crown 3 SUS316 Parallel Coils with a suggested wattage range of 80-90 watts and 0.5 ohm coils rated for 70-80 watts. These coils may be incompatible with your 80W mod.

I don't mind sub-ohm coils and higher wattage, in fact I'm using the .7 ohm coil on the Nautilus 2 with no desire to use the higher ohm coil that came in the kit. I just prefer a bit of a tighter draw, and maybe higher wattage doesn't lend itself to that? I don't know. I still have a lot to learn, apparently! LOL

While my current mod only goes to 80W, I do have a Sinuous Ravage on order that goes to 200W. I do have a fair bit of Shinyitis (er...um, Tesla Punk mini 85W is also on order) , and really wanting to find the right set up that's going to help me quit for good. Still dual useage ATM, but forgot my mod yesterday when I went to work, and I found I was craving IT, more than the cigarettes.

So for those who DL, does it just take practice? If nothing else, I'd love to be able to do it, so that I CAN compare the taste difference between MTL and DL. Everyone who DL's seems to enjoy it so much and talk about how much they enjoy the flavor. And man - they seem to have far more options than those of us who MTL and don't want to build (for now) do.

Thank you! I also remember you from when I used to hang out here a lot. And thank you for the links! I could not seem to find the Original when I looked earlier. I don't MIND metal tips, but I do have nice collection of Molehill Mountain tips from back in the day that I can use!

If you prefer, there is a black version as well as the stainless steel version. It's out of stock at My Vapor Store. I got mine at Fast Tech. You can also purchase the 1.2 ohm replacement coils here, too.

Welcome back! +1 on what @Baditude said!

As a beside, I tried DL, once even for a prolonged period of time in the hopes of becoming accustomed to it, and I did nothing but hack like I was going to die..

I think DL is an acquired taste that not everyone can aquire.

I use the 0.5 ohm coils in my Crown 1's (I have three for different flavors). I use a 75W mod at 30 watts.

It took me 3 - 4 years to advance to a direct lung draw. It was just a natural progression for me. I still occassionally MTL; I simply adjust the air control ring to just before it closes completely off. A more narrow bore drip tip would accomplish the same effect I would think.

Would you happen to have a link to the 0.5 ohm coils for the Crown? I just ordered 2 of the original Crown and 2 packs of the 1.2 ohm coils. I didn't see any other ohms available from the site you linked above.

They are there. On the right hand box there is a drop down arrow, you will see the .5 coils. Click on them and make sure the heading starts with authentic.

$8.00 for a 4-pack at Fast Tech if you don't mind waiting 3 weeks for the shipping from China.

Drop down menu has the 0.5 ohm. Click on the downward facing arrow. Make sure they are highlighted when you order.

Ahhhh, I missed his follow up with the FastTech link. I meant that on the site linked below - it only had 1.2 ohm!

You guys are awesome as ever!

Wow! I love this subject. I vape both MTL and DL. And many MTL gear just doesn't do it for me for MTL. And I am a big fan of using DL gear for even MTL. Subohms and all! Like I am right now vaping on a monster Mutation XL v3 (28mm) with a Clapton NI200 build at 3mm-12wrap coil at 0.12 ohms. Sure the Triad DNA200 is set for 100 watts, but it rarely jumps that high from a cold start to warm it up. And during MTL vaping with it, it often averages only 12 to 18 watts.

The bad thing about using DL gear for MTL is since the coils are larger, decks are bigger, and more heat absorbing mass... you need more battery power to vape. Also you will go through more juice too. Maybe 2 to 3 times more than with MTL gear. But you can always up the nic.

Anyway I think the flavor of the juice is so much better with DL gear, even while MTL vaping. And since I vape both MTL and DL, while using TC, nothing needs to be changed or adjusted. Since I like an airy MTL, I don't even change the airflow.

Hi Robin welcome back.

I have the crown's first version and I love them. I use their rba's and they give great flavor and easy to build on tho there isn't much room on the deck. Then you could buy prebuilt coils and choose the ohm's you desire.

I second Anna's suggestion, I also like the Ego one Mega tanks with the CLR coils. I use the 0.5 coils but they seem to cost around the same as the stock coils. I think the flavor is better and if you choose not to rewick/rebuild you can just toss them as like I said they cost the same as the stock coils.

The Ego mega tanks cost around $10-11. and can be found here. These are the 4ml tanks but they do offer the 2ml tanks.

Joyetech eGo ONE Mega V2 Tank

Good to see you back vaping and rejoining our forum.

I too agree with Anna's and Sugar & Spice suggesting about the original Uwell Crown I tanks. I still love them and use stock or RBA with them. Sweet-Vapes has the tanks (all colors), coils and RBA ($2.50). Vape Super Saver has just the tanks in Silver and a few stock coils.

Wow - thank you guys, you've given me some great ideas! My Zenith came in today and I love it compared to the Nautilus 2. I'm using the pre-installed coil, and I've read on other threads, it takes a break in period for that coil. I'm getting decent flavor, vaping at 14W and a little airier than I normally like it. I'll keep vaping on it, but I do like a warmer vape, and I did pick up extra 0.8 ohm coils.

S&S - I think I'll pick up 2 of the mega tanks you linked to and some of the 0.5 ohm coils - for that price, I really can't lose, even if I end up not liking it, but it has some good reviews.

I also did order a couple of the Uwell Crown tanks. I actually had accidentally ordered the 2ml version of the Crown III and was a little mad at myself, because I had wanted the 4 ml version.

I need to stop - I think I'm well stocked, as well with my Ahlusion juices - which I adore - that's who I purchased from before. Enjoying some Mango Lassi in the Zenith this evening.
