Nice to find a forum not sponsored by a manufacturer with real people and real experiences with e-cigs. :2cool:

I am new to this whole thing, a 20+ year smoker. I recently got (yeah this is really ghetto compared to all the "liquids" and "juices" talk around here:p) a Nicotek Metro, full nicotine 1.8%, and I am liking it! I reallly think I can quit buying real cigs with this thing!

But I am still smoking the real thing at this point, trying to wean off them. When I smoke the e-cig though, it sometimes makes me cough, is this just because I am still smoking, or am I priming the Metro too much (2 or 3 pre-puffs) or is the Metro too cheap to really work?

...when you first start vaping, coughing is a common complaint...my first vape blew my brains out my ears and my eyes across the room...try different techniques on the inhale...take the vape into your mouth first and then slowly into the lungs...add a little air into mix...sometimes, puffing like you would do with a cee-gar or pipe can help...we all havvta develop a technique that will work.......

Hi and welcome :)
We were all new once and there's a learning curve. It's kinda fun. I'm glad you found this place, there's a wealth of knowledge here and lots of folks to help out. Don't rush out and buy anything else just yet. Take your time, get familiar, get more comfortable with the terminology.
All in all, it's a great ride :)

Try chambering the puff in your mouth. Don't actually inhale it until the ecig is away from your mouth. It made a difference for me. You may also want to experiment with different juices. Several people have complained about the quality of the stuff that comes with kits like those.
Hope you find what works for you.

Welcome to the forum!!

I'm not sure about that brand of e-cig but I can say that pulling a drag on an e-cig is a different technique than pulling on an analog cig. Also, the weening strategy is a good way to go. It took me a month to get off of analogs while I searched for the right e-cig hardware. For what it's worth, a lot of new folks tend to go with Joye 510s and eGos or even the Riva with is a higher voltage clone of the eGo.

Be sure to fire away with any questions you have and search the forum for tons of great info. Enjoy the journey!

Welcome, Hubcap! :)

You are experiencing "throat hit"; some juices have more than others. PG is harsher on your throat than VG, and higher nic can affect you the same way. Make sure you drink lots of fluids while you're vaping, and take long slllooowwwww drags off of the e-cig, and hold the vapor in your mouth before you inhale, if at all. Keep working on it - if the e-cig and juice you have works for you, then it's the right setup for you at this time!

Good luck, and if you have any questions, there are lots of us here to help.

Thanks brotha. I've still got a lot to learn about the juices and stuff, but this is a great place to do that, I think. :2cool:

I had the same issue when I first got my Joye eGo. I had tried a few different e-cigs before but they never did anything for me. When I first started smoking almost 10 years ago for whatever reason I always did a french inhale when I smoked and never inhaled "normally" which is why the other e-cigs didn't do anything for me. However, with my eGo I can french inhale it and get huge amount of vapor and great throat hit which made me cough at first. It took me a week to ween myself off analog cigs and now I only use my eGo. I am very new to this (only started about 3 weeks ago) but I love it so much already!! I am so glad I found this site, there is defiantly some great info on here!!!
