I am new to vaping and new to this forum so I have some questions that I cant find answers to. I have been reading this forum all day and am still a little confused at a few things. I have been vaping for about 2 months now. I use a cheap e cigg from a grocery store, the Nicotek Metro. I like it ok, but the cartridges taste like crap. My cousins husband is a vapor and he turned me on to Tasty Vapors and alas I found what i was looking for. My big question is this...the Nicotek is the ONLY e cigg I have ever used. I love the fact that it looks so much like a real cigg and is so cheap (19.99 for battery and 2 cartridges, 9.99 for 3 cartridges) but the cartridges are not made to refill but thanks to a utube video I learned I can do this but sometimes a bit of the liquid comes back out while I am vaping and stings my lips. Is this dangerous? Is it normal? I also would like the liquids to have more smoke, so would I buy some extra VG and add it to my liquid? Also the cartridges and the atomizer are combined, for a smaller cigg. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I kind of want to try a better e cigg but am nervous about it because with this one I can buy it locally ( I live in the country) if a battery dies or something breaks. Any thoughts? Oh and by the way....I have not had one real cigg since the day I started vaping!!! Feel Great!

Welcome!

I'm still relatively new too, but I started with an ecig similar to what the Nikotec looks like. It appears to be the RN4081 type from what I can tell. After doing some research, I moved on to one of the similar but much better and cheaper slims, the KR808D-1. I bought a couple of batteries, some cartos (small like what you have, a 2-piece design) and a charger, and the experience was MUCH better than with the original I started with.

Almost all of the legitimate vendors will have parts for that and for the other common unit, the 510. If you really like the one that you have, and don't want to start over quite yet, you can check the vendors to see if they have cartomizers that fit the nikotek and just buy a few blanks and some eliquid and refill and keep using the batteries you have. A pack of blank cartos can be had for 6-8 dollars and a 10 ml bottle of liquid can run anywhere from 4-8 dollars. For me, a 10ml bottle lasts about a week. Your vapeage may vary :) If you want to go ahead and start all over, you can get a decent starter kit with a pair of batteries, a charger and some cartos or carts and atomizers for 30-50 dollars. You will most likely want at least 2 batteries so you can be vaping while charging. I'm changing right now from the 808 to the larger Ego type which takes a different cartomizer, so I'm having to buy all new cartomizers. No big deal, they are fairly inexpensive, and need to be replaced eventually anyways because they get old and yucky.

There is a lot that can vary depending on what you want to do. I happened to start with a slim and was very happy with it. Others start with a slim and move up to something bigger, even one of the mods that makes you look like a kid sucking on a juice box ;) Some folks go all-in and get something even crazier.

I haven't died yet from sucking juice out of a carto, but that doesn't mean that noone else will. It does taste terrible, and I usually rinse off if it does happen to me.

Anyways, read, read, read, use the search, and try not to be overwhelmed. Good luck, and if I said anything stupid, I'm sure I will be corrected by some of the more knowledgeable folks here.

Chevello did well IMHO ;)

Vaping is a very personal thing, so I, too recommend that you read, read, read as well as browse the vendors registered to see what is available and what works with what. You'll find them listed at the bottom of the forum's main page. Don't be concerned about living in the country. There are very few who have the convenience of a local storefront they can make their purchases from. You'll adjust to your order times pretty quickly if you don't order too lightly.

Take a look around and toss out the questions! There's great advice to be found right here in these threads!

Welcome and we look forward to helping you out the best we can!

The "slim" you are useing is OK but since youve found out you like to vapee and it keeps you of the analogs, I reccomend
stepping up to a mod or at least an Ego kit. Dont spin your wheels going thru kit after kit. If you buy a mod with a mechanical switch and a few batterie, a failure will be eaiser to correct. Id switch to a 510 carto and they will fit right on any Ego batt. Good luck with everything and check out Welcome to MadVapes LLC they have tons of good affordable options.

When I started vaping I wanted something that was "just like an analog". I started with Smoketip (ST) and it was decent. I recently switched to VapeShot (VS) and am really happy with it. It's more like an analog and has the charger pack. Both companies shipped free and it showed up at in a reasonable time.

It is a little bit of a pain to order online and not just go to the store, but you'll probly save some $ if you're paying $10 for 3 cartridges. Both ST and VS use Cartos and are generally refillable and are very close to the size of analogs. The ST is a little bigger and the VS is a little more compact (like 4 mm shorter than ST).

As far as the battery dying, ST has a "lifetime warranty" but may not replace the battery if its damaged somehow, VS has a free battery program with the purchase of X number of cartos and a 60 day warranty.

I still have my original thoughts on vaping and that's to have the "most analog experience". I'm probably the only member that's been on the forum for more than a month and still loves my mini bats :) sorry lithiumdaze

I use to do 20-25 drops to fill the cartomizer and drip in 7-8 drops when it begins to dry a little. When you initially fill the cartomizer it might be best to let it sit with the mouth piece end up for five to ten minutes to give the liquid a chance to soak in. I agree with you on the taste, nicotek menthol reminds me of Dole Pear slices.

CMC are you referring to a cartomizer?

It's quite possible to get a joye 510 kit for about the same price as your 'throwaway'. They start at ~$20 for a battery and a few cartridges. But for twice that you can really make huge improvements with something like a Ego/Kgo/ Riva. With these you get 2 batteries so the cost really is about the same. But the batteries are slightly larger and last much longer.
KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit
SLB KGO Starter Kit

With something like the latter it opens up a whole world of different things to try. There's all sorts of different cartos that will change the way any flavor hits. Lower ohms will give more vapor but slightly less taste. Then there's tanks that can be had for ~$10 and make cartos last even longer and less refilling.

I def agree with stephpd, move up to something bigger and it will def save you moeny in the long run, plus give a much better vape. $10 for 3 cartos is ridiculous and moving on to something that will allow you to buy blank cartos and fill your own will save you a lot of money.

I would def get something with a bigger battery like the Riva, kGo, or E-Power. Their all 3.7V PVs and have 510 connections. All 3 are very reasonably priced and will be a BIG improvement over what your using now.
I started with an overpriced slim ecig(bc I didnt know any better) and then got an E-Power. Even though I was ...... I wasted the money for the first kit, I have easily made that money back switching over. The E-Power uses non-proprietary batteries that are really cheap and everything is replaceable on it so its cheaper to maintain. The batteries are 1050mah and I get avg a day to a day and a half on one battery.
The eGo is also a nice PV, but is only 3.3-3.4V, and thats why I prefer the Riva, kGo, E-Power more bc their 3.7V.

Also with a bigger battery PV you would have the option to use low resistance(LR) attys and cartos. Slim ecigs cant handle them. LRs give a warmer vape and more TH and most people prefer them.
With a slim ecig the batteries have to be recharged constantly and theres only a few options of what you can use on them. With my E-Power I now get at least a day on one battery and have a ton of options for attys and cartos I can use. I use the "Ressurector" cartos which are 1.7ohm LR. They hold over 2ml of juice so they last a long time before needing a refill. I pop in a fresh battery in the morning and fill 2 or 3 Ressurectors and Im easily good all day.
