I just Googled Tuglyfe box mod since I've never heard of it. There seem to be several different types. Can you be more specific?

Edit; I added clone to the search and it seems to be an unregulated mod. If that is the case, no we don't recommend unregulated mods to beginners.

I'll agree with the above. If this will be your first "mod", you should get a regulated electronic mod. It will have protection circuitry, and you'll be able to adjust the power to suit your tastes. You won't have that with a mechanical mod; they are not for beginners unless you really do your homework on mech mod use and batteries.

The Basen 18650 3500mAh batteries are rather underpowered for today's mods, whether you get a mech or a regulated mod. They are only 10 amp continuous. You need 20 amps continuous or higher. Pulse currents are usually inflated and therefore not to be used for vaping devices.

Battery pulse ratings are useless!
There are no 18650 batteries with a genuine rating over 30A!

Hi guys :) As you can see from the title I'm new to vaping.I would like to ask if a clone Tuglyfe box mod will work for me as a new guy into vaping. If you guys approve this boxmod I'll order it.Will a pair of Basen 18650 3500mAh batteries work good with the Tuglyfe?Thank you :) I would really appreciate your help..!!

Welcome to ECF!

Like the others above have mentioned, unregulated mods can be dangerous in the hands of an inexperienced vaper. In addition, unregulated mods do not really offer any significant benefits over regulated mods. In fact the opposite is usually true. You can get more flexibility, functionality, safety and an overall more enjoyable vaping experience from a regulated mod.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself. What are you trying to accomplish with vaping? Are you quitting smoking? With a bit of information, the wonderful people of this site can offer suggestions for setups that will outperform the Tuglyfe in every way.

Hello and welcome to the forum @NewToVapingGuy. Glad to have you here!:)

+1 on what @gandymarsh said. An unregulated mod requires knowledge of battery safety, Ohm's Law, amp draw and how they work together to vape safely.

What are you currently using to vape with?
I'm using a Eleaf iStick 30W with a Kangerteck Genitank

this is not a beginner device, I would suggest a regulated mod (the adjustable ones with a screen)
I really want to buy this one.I've been watching for 2 days now how to change coils ect.I have a vape shop next to my house and I believe they will help me out.Thank you for your advise :)

What are you looking for that you are not getting with your current setup?
I want to really get into vaping. Many friends of mine have one and I'm stuck with this little guy haha .Because I'm on a low budget I want to buy the mod so I dont buy new coils, tanks ect every week. With a mod I believe I can buy some wick wire and build my own coils.

Sounds good; when new it is better to use a regulated mod like the istick.

The upgrade from the istick would be a replaceable battery mod.
The istick100 is actually a replaceable battery mod.
There is also the sigelei's 75, and 150, the snow wolf, ijoy solo 75w mini, ijoy asolo 200, various dna200 devices, and lots of others.

For batteries always use IMR or INR type batteries.
The higher the wattage mod you use, the more carefull you need to be about batteries, so if you are happy at 30 watts, aim for mods operating in that range.

The coil is in the vaporizer part.
The 'box mod' usually refers to the power part where the battery goes.
You can buy any typical rda and wrap your own coils and use it on your istick.

yes you don't need a unregulated mod to build your own coil. There is a lot of battery safety to consider, also being new a regulated mod will give you the latitude to change your watage, on the unregulated your power is based in your build. so if you build a coil and let's say the vape is to hot, you need to build another coil, where on a regulated mod you could just turn the power down.

Another unregulated mod. Even more dangerous than the Tuglyfe as it is a "faux hybrid top cap" box mod.
I really advise not getting a faux hybrid/direct battery mod as a relatively new vaper. These are the mods which have blown up in the hands and mouths of people who did not understand their peculiararities. They don't have an insulated 510 center pin and a hard short can cause a battery to vent. If your mod doesn't have top ventilation holes (most don't) your mod becomes a pipe bomb. Please read the last segment of my Beginner's Guide to Your First Mechanical Mod linked above.

+1 to everybody here. Don't buy a mechanical (unregulated) mod. I was looking around, that Tuglyfe two-battery box runs about $40.00. For that money you can buy an RX200 which is both far more powerful and a lot safer (you do need 3 batteries, not two). If you insist on a mechanical, use only Sony VTC4 batteries, and don't buy them on eBay because most of them are fakes. Get them from a reputable supplier like Orbtronic, Illumn or RTDVapor. In a (2 battery) regulated mod, I would usually recommend Samsung 25R or LG HG2 or HG4 batteries; same caveat, buy them for a good dealer. If the RX200 doesn't work for you, you can buy a 60 watt iStick for 30 bucks (it needs 1 battery) or the iStick 100 (2 batteries) for about the same price.
