Hello everyone, I'm new to ECF and kinda new to vaping. I have been interested for years but never really gave it a shot. Well today I decided to give it a try again and got referred here by a very good buddy.

I want to guess about a year ago I got myself and my wife ego twist kit, I went with pro tanks, and she went with some other non-cleanable tanks. We lasted awhile but we attempted to stop analogs all together. I realize now after 1.5 packs a day, this was not the best idea. So I have been researching and stopped by the local e-cig shop and picked up an IPV v2. I got some juice with 24mg and I'm hoping to really cut back analogs tomorrow as much as possible.

Unfortunately I'm waiting on the IPV to charge, so I'll be sticking to ego for now.

I'll be reading all I can on ecf and watching some YouTube. If anyone has any just read threads, or goto YouTube channels please share.

Welcome wisky!

Don't over-stress yourself about quitting. It will come (probably as a surprise). After a venture with cig-alikes, I basically started with eGos. I now have 3 MVPs, 3 VV3s a couple Spinners and a couple of fixed-voltage eGo-type batteries  Lots of EVOD tanks as well as some rebuildables (that took me about 3 months in to start working on.) Not counting the first couple times I tried vaping, I smoked and vaped for about a month before I finally stopped buying cigarettes. That was almost six months ago, and I'm not looking back!

Try different flavors of juice (and different nic levels) You'll eventually dial in on what you like. If you want/need a cigarette, don't crucify yourself for having one. Just remember the ones you *don't* smoke are the steps in the right direction.

Good luck to you!

Welcome! I, too, am new a trying the Vaping thing for a second time. The first was with cartomizers a few years ago and no real research into Vaping. This time I've watched videos on YouTube, read threads on ecf and talked to folks at my local smoke shop. I will be getting a decent vv/vw mod and a rebuild able drip atomizer very soon as well as some highly regarded juices. I'm confident that I will be able to quit with that setup, after having tried similar setups from the guys at the local store. Sure, I'll prolly sneak in a few smokes on occasion but after a few days abstaining from smoking this week I was reminded of just how much old cigarette smell and taste really sucks compared to a good vape. My current evod is ok, but it isn't even in the same ball park as what I tried at that brick and mortar. Stay strong and do your research. You'll find what suits you and be healthier and happier for it.

What type of tank are you going to use on the iPV? I think the iPV is over kill for Clearomizers, I would have suggested an mvp2, but to each their own.
A good performer is the nautilus mini, or full size with the bvc heads. I think that's the best clearo on the market.
Vaping isn't an exact science. No one can say "this setup with this eliquid will get you off cigarettes" it takes so,e tinkering to find out what works for you. Many people cut back before giving up their prized cigarette... Maybe it's an after dinner smoke, or that first cigarette of the day with a cup of coffee. Like a previous poster said, it's all about the cigarettes you don't smoke.
No one can tell you what WILL work, but there are some general "best practices":
With variable voltage/wattage: start low (3.5v or 7w) and slowly increase it until you get a satisfying vape. If you get a burnt hit (you will know..) dial it back down and give it a few strong puffs without pressing the power button on your device to resaturate the wick. Different liquids taste better at different wattages, so feel free to play around with it abit. Also, I vape lower nic before bed, as nicotine is a stimulant and I sleep better with that. Some just prefer to drop the wattage as it makes the vape less harsh.
Try lots of different types of eliquid to figure out what you like. Try tobaccos, fruits, deserts... Whatever sounds interesting to try... If you don't have a b&m (vape shop) near you MountBakerVapor is an online retailer with great prices to test a bunch if flavors. Most eliquid makers also offer sample packs, so you can try a little of each line without ordering 15ml bottles. If your goal is to quit completely, don't stock up on flavors you like now. After you quit your sense of taste and smell will return and what you like now may taste like hot garbage after your senses return.
Draw style: you aren't smoking a cigarette, so your inhale process should change.. Pull the vapor into your mouth like a cigar. Then to a quick inhale into your throat. No need to get it deep into the lungs like a cigarette. The mucus membranes in your mouth and nose is what absorbs the nicotine, not the the lungs, as the vapor molecules are to large for the lungs to absorb the same way as smoke.
As you quit smoking your energy will return, as will your lung capacity. You get all of the benefits of quitting, without giving up the nicotine. From there you can dial back the nicotine, but no hurry. Personally I like the act of smoking, and the focus nicotine gives me. I vape mostly 3mg, but will bump up to 6 during stressful times, or zero before bed (vaping satisfies my hand to mouth fixation). I'm down from 12mg.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head, hopefully someone else can give you some valuable input.

Try an mvp2 with a nautilus bvc (the bvc heads fit the full size nautilus if you want more juice copacity). It will blow the socks off your evod setup. I know the evod doesn't wear socks... But it's just that good! If you are set on rebuilding, maybe start with a 30w mod and the nautilus. Rebuilding is a hobby for me at this point, and if I had it to do again, I'd have upgraded to a 30w mod instead of my 15w SiD. I knew I was going to get into rebuilding though, because I love to tinker.

So I couldn't sleep and tried the IPV again. I was turning it off when I changed out tanks, and I guess it didn't register at first cause now the aero tank shows 2.1 ohms and is working great.

I went with the ipv because I wanted a mod for rebuilding and I liked the size better then the 950 ego twist. I don't see myself rebuilding for awhile, but I want to learn it.

While at home I'd like to look into dripping, just to try different flavors. I still have so much to learn. But I like it, I also went with the ipv, cause the guy at shop recommended it over the DNA 30w.

hey Wiskyactual... i'll tell you how i quit cigarettes WITHOUT going back (not even 1 puff) just 4 months ago...

i chose a quit date and on that day i went as long as i could without a cig. i lasted 6 hours! then, when i thought i was about ready to lose my mind i used the vape. unlike a cig it did not give me the nicotine immediately but it only took about 3 pulls to feel that 'ah, that's better' feeling. i was really skeptical at first and my brother tried to convince me for 2 years to switch. the problem i ran into was the vape irritated my throat and that deterred me. but once i committed to quitting cigarettes it only took about 3 days for that irritation to go away. makes me wonder what cigs were doing to my throat! anyway, vaping delivers nicotine A-OK! imo it actually delivers nicotine SUPERIOR to traditional burning.

of course it's different for everyone but i thought relaying my experience may give you further hope in your quest to quit smoking. best fortune to you.

oh btw i was only smoking half a pack per day but not long before that i was a pack a day smoker. i also removed everything cig related and replaced it all with vape stuff so that i started associating vape to me habits in place of the cigs. maybe that's something that could help you adjust.

Technically speaking, vaping is less efficient than smoking a cigarette. However this site proves that it works for most when you look at all the new users success with egos and apvs.
A lot of people like the IPV. I have no desire to Vape over 30w. 22w is about where I'm at on my drippers with 0.8 ohm dual coils. I have a mechanical and have tried lower resistance, but the Vape is too hot imo. I'm sure that's not true for everyone!

Thanks for all the positive reinforcement! I realized that I actually want to quit finally, and after discussing it with the wife, and reading about all the success ecf members have had, I am confident and almost excited.

Knowing that it's not expected to go cold turkey I am a little less stressed about it. Same with wife. I'm actually looking forward to the art of vaping to be honest. I know my son will be much happier once he knows I stopped analogs.
