The only other thing you can check, that I can think of, is that the firing pin may be loose on the 510 center pin. You would have to remove the delrin cover to inspect it.

When refitting the delrin cover, be careful to fully seat the cover back in place before tightening the screw, and do the screw up very gently, otherwise you will strip the threads.

Looks like the atomizer 510 pin is barely making contact with the REO 510 pin

Hey Penny, I think Tobarger is on to something here.. if the Reo 510 is non adjustable (which it is) and the atties male 510 is also non adjustable than that might be the culprit. As for the .38-.48 drop in voltage that is normal.. I just checked mine with the inline volt meter and I have a .20 volt drop but there will always be some drop.

Can you adjust the 510 pin on the atties in question to rule that out?

Im wondering if either the Reo 510 pin and/or the attie 510 pin have some oxidation happening? have you cleaned those really well? File the male 510's on the atties and the Reo's will be harder to clean because its recessed, but if you have a dremel with that tiny grinding attachment you can very carefully scuff up the 510 connection without damaging the threads. Good luck and please keep us updated!

Here's what I found under my spring...

So yeah, there was a ton of crap under there and the screw was caked and of course the base of the Reo inside was as well. We have a horrible time with our hard water and now I'm wondering if it hasn't done it's work on my TRA's 510. I wash my Reo's at least once a week if not twice a week.

I sanded the spring area, got it nice and smooth, noaloxed it, cleaned the screw good and noaloxed it and cleaned the screw hole as best I could but nothing has changed. I'm going to take it apart and recheck everything. It has to be my water damaging this Reo, I wonder what the bottom of the 510 and nipple look like inside the tube. Pfft! This sucks.

Penny, use distilled water when you wash. Mineral free...throw it all in your UC and let it do it's thing.

Good to know about the voltage drop I wasn't quite sure what range was within normal limits. My Odins, which are just about all I use, are not adjustable. My one other atty that I use, my Mephisto, is adjustable but I haven't been able to get it to fire right either. I put all of these atties through my ultrasonic cleaner. I've decided to wait until Rob has the new 510's in and then I'm gonna send her to him. I'm pretty sure the 510 has somehow dropped, or something, so I'm gonna let the master pro take over. Thank you for the good luck wishes chebird!

Scanned through the thread but I had this happen - it was my contact thingy under my button...it was broken in the plastic sleeve. Just a thought.

I just checked for that after seeing your post and didn't see anything. If that's it it's well hidden. Thanks for throwing that out there, I hadn't thought of it.

Excellent idea! I was just took my mini out, she's been shelved for a few weeks while I decided what I'm going to do with her as far as a sand paper finish goes, and I noticed the same hard water build up around her spring too. Unfortunately her spring screw is stripped so I have to force this spring out and will probably ruin a perfectly good spring in order to clean it out. I'll wait till performance drops though, she's still chuggin' along like a lil' champ.

Well I'll be darned. I bought another Odin from Keepsmiling a couple of weeks ago on the classies and decided to try it on this TRA that won't fire any of my Odins or my Mephisto and low and behold KS's Odin is firing on this finicky TRA! w00t! This Odin is *not* leaving this TRA lol!

It's kizmet - starcrossed lovers reunited, clearly.
