Really? I tried NJOY and thought they were horrible. I do buy the Blu disposables and I like them. What does poor performance mean? You mean in sales, or in how they work or in how they are perceived by the vaping community? Are they dangerous? My Dad has this notion that e-cigs will blow up in your face. But I haven't read anything about that here, yet.
Heh, there have been a very few cases of exploding batteries but the thing is that we're talking lithium ion batteries that are
not just in e-cigs. They're also in every cell phone, laptop, iPad, iPod... you name it. So if your dad uses a laptop or has a cell phone, you
could point out that he's putting the same battery close to... ahem... sensitive anatomy parts. And laptops, by the way, have been known to overheat and catch fire.
Lithium has yielded some nice battery tech but it's volatile. Both lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries
can overheat and even ignite. The few "explosions" with e-cig batteries are probably more "bursting" from the heat expansion from an overheating battery. And the few cases I've run across involved "mods". Someone doing the DIY thing. Which is a fine thing to do but you
are taking
some risk. Not that buying over the counter, manufactured items doesn't have some risk to it. Such as, do a Google on "
laptop battery fire" sometime. You'll find one of my favorite photos (
it's over this way).
But usually, we're talking defects in or mishandling of the batteries. Actual lithium battery fires are rare. Also,
newer tech reduces the chances of overheating to the point you almost never hear about it anymore. I can remember the days it seemed you couldn't get turned around without somebody's laptop bursting into flames.
If there is something wrong with Blu I'd like to know your opinion please.
Blu has a not so great rep largely, I think, because of their kits. Which, in my opinion (and that of many), are overpriced for what they are and under-perform. I dumped mine after only two weeks (of course, I had found ECF and learned there are tons of better, less costly options out there).
I think their disposables are actually their best product. I still like their "Classic Tobacco" and would still buy a disposable now and again. The good thing being that they're widely available and that's nice to know should I ever get "stuck" without my kit or run out of juice at a bad time or something like that.
My opinion is stay away from their kits. But if you like their disposables, vape away.
The disposables may not be the best option out there but they're not bad. I would still pick one up myself. Especially since I've not yet found a tobacco flavor I like other than theirs. Still looking. Have found other flavors I really like but not a tobacco version just yet.
