Was never worried about it. Watch enough videos and started building them at 1.5 to 1.2. Had the coil calculator so I knew what my target range was I wanted to hit. If it read close to that on my ohms reader I knew I was good. I started off on Protank coils which are a lot more difficult than doing rebuildables. Now all mine are pretty much kayfun Styled Rebuilables. CHEERS!

Don't be scared, but do make sure you have a spare setup while you are figuring it out. I didn't have any idea when I bought my REO's a few weeks ago, spent a bunch of time reading up on it, gave up on my coil master and got a artistic gizmo by the time they got here. Took an evening to get the first one going and a couple of hours the next day to get the second one going. Then later that week I thought I could build something better and ended up having one down for a couple of days until I did. So I decided I would start over and build them both the same, that was harder than I thought so i spent another 2 days with my Subtank. At that point I bought a 3rd Nuppin so I wouldn't have to take anything out of commission while I worked on something new. I also found the turbocoiler thread in the coils sub forum so I built one those. Now after a few more nights of fiddling around I can finally knock out a new build in about 20 min. It's taken me about a spool and a half of wire and a foot of RXW, but it's finally worth all effort it took me to learn how.

It amazes me that so many are intimidated about getting into wrapping their own coils , the only thing i had questions about was how to connect the wires at first .

Trust me on this , coil wrapping is absolute cake , one of the easiest things ever , no joke. You definitely do not need coiling tools etc...

If you can wrap string around a stick and keep the coils next to each other then you can be a great coil wrapper. Still unsure , try the machine screw coil wrapping method .

Wrap around the screw and when done unscrew the coil.

Thanks for all the replies!!! It was actually much easier than I expected. I'm always nervous the first time I try something new so this was to be expected but in hind sight, I had absolutely no reason to be nervous. I think it was a very good build for my first one. I'm pretty proud of it. I took pics but can't figure out how to post them. When i try, it says the file is too large. If anyone can assist with that, I'd love to show you guys how it turned out. Its vaping like a champ, good vapor and good flavor. It actually feels like I'm vaping on a manufactured coil which to me is really good..lol...but I'm still a newb. I'm just completely stoked :)

Nice first coil...although i would raise it a little bit higher off the deck if it was me....what that does...is one it improves air flow and two there is less risk of the coil shorting out as you use it....
Another thing u might want to do is not to get the coil glowing that bright wothout any liquid on it....pulse it to see how it lights....no need to get it hot white....
My 02 cents

Coil looks great to me , well done . To those who will not wrap their own coils you can buy packs of 50 in all sizes and ohm's and believe it or not, they work very well and are dirt cheap .

Click on the link :

Pre built for every type of vape you can think of , even temp control devices . Page after page is packed with them.

Thank you for the advice. I will definitely keep that in mind for my next one. When I was building, I remembered someone in a video saying not to ever let the coil touch the deck, so I tried to make sure that would not happen.

That really is a nice first coil -- mine looked like a 4 yr old did it. I agree, it should be raised up a bit, for both the reasons named -- airflow (better flavor!), and safety, less risk of it touching metal while firing.

I do get mine glowing when I dry burn, but I generally only leave them glowing for 3-5 seconds; when a coil is brand new, really not even that long, just enough to get it to the size I want it to be -- I don't like my wraps touching, I prefer an open build, but I do want it to be symmetrical -- evenly-spaced.

Good Great job! :thumb:

It should be noted that i did not say i would buy FT pre wrapped coils as a first option , what i said was that when i started i bought some of these and i was shocked at how well they worked . These already wrapped coils were highly recommend to me on ECF when i first started and had no clue what i was doing.

I still have a half bag that i haven't used in close to two years , i much prefer to build my own but these are great in a pinch if needed and they are inexpensive.

They should not work as well as they do either lol.
