With spending some money in the first couple years finding gear that works best for our needs and a lot of money spent on crappy commercial juices. Rebuilding and DIY juice with 2 of us smoking a pack a day that's now 15 bucks a pack. I have cut a $800-900 plus a month smoking cost into less than 15 bucks a month for 2 of us to vape uncontrollably. I have been self sufficient vaping for over 3 years now and almost forgot what vapemail was other than buying concentrates and some wire.
We turned that saved money into 3 brand new off the lot vehicles with the most recent a 2016 Silverado that we could never have afforded if we still smoked.

My wife and I vape about 50-60MG of nic a day which translates to about 20-25ML of DIY juice/day. I buy 100mg nic by the litre, our main flavours in 500ml bottles and PG/VG a gallon each at a time. Costs us almost nothing. Maybe $150-200/yr total for juice? We used to spend $15-20/bottle at vape stores but it was too expensive. Plus I think my DIY tastes better.

I also used to make all of our own coils, but my wife is happy with Nautilus coils and gets 1-2 weeks out of a coil that costs just over $1. I use Smok TFV8 and Crown 3’s and am back to buying factory coils as well. For $2-3, a coil lasts me over a month. I barely bother rebuilding these days.

For those not making their own juice, the 120ml deals out there are getting super cheap. No need to pay $20/30ml any longer IMO....

First off, I enjoy making my own juice and making my own coils so cost isn't a factor in my decision to do both. Most hobbies cost a ton of money. Second, by making my own juice and coils I get a better vape. Tailored to my liking. The monetary benefit is purely gravy. Four cents a ML for juice and maybe twenty cents for a coil? Vaping costs for the first year were not less than smoking. Bought a lot of gear. My costs then went down drastically. I hit my saturation point for gear. Not much is that enticing. I did buy a filing cabinet this weekend. I couldn't find my work table.

I used to spend about $200 every month smoking. Some reading this used to spend that much a week.

When I was ramping back up earlier this year, I probably spent $250 restocking coils, replacing batteries, upgrading gear and buying new juices and DIY stuff.

I now spend about $30 each month on vaping supplies.

There are still a few juices I don't bother trying to clone, and I will always have at least a marginal need for new Kanger and Vaporesso coils.
