When I started e smoking I heard that the batteries and atty's died regularly but wasn't conserned as the cost of these items often didn't match the cost 2 packs of cigs.

However, I've been vaping now for 3 months and all my batteries are working and all my atty's are working.

What gives?

I even have 2 low resistance LR atty's (which I use most) and both are working like a charm and have lived 1 and 1/2 months easily.

I'm touching wood as I speak but... Am I doing somthing right?

1) Everytime you unscrew anything, use kitchen towel and clean everything (The connections that is).

2) Every week, blow out all the liquid from your recent atty onto kicken towel, pop in diet coke for 20 mins and then in boiling water for 20 mins. Then blow out again (after a tap wash) and leave to dry overnight. (You won't miss it, you should have another one ;))

When exactly should any part of my e-cig die?

P.S. I used to smoke 40 real cigs a day and now vape more so. Just in case you thought I was a light vaper or somthing, very not the case :)

I agree, and don't understand why so many people seem to be having things break down.

Actually, I do have some thoughts now that you mention it...
:)

I think a lot of people think they have killed their atomizers for the following reasons....
1) Cleaning it
2) Flooding it
3) Tasting burnt

And to fix these issues you simply do the following...
1) Let it dry a lot longer or use a faster way to dry it
2) Blow it out
3) Learn about wicking --or-- do a dry burn to clean it correctly

I have yet to have an atomizer die on me.

I haven't lost anything yet in 3 months of vaping. I don't really rotate my attys, but I do rotate the batteries out of necessity. I also rarely clean the attys, just blow them out if they are starting to act a little clogged. I do clean all the connectors every few days with a q-tip and alcohol. I have lost one battery, but it had a bad experience in a washing machine, so can't really blame that on the hardware.

At this point I am starting to believe that if I continue using the Highping dry burn method as needed, my 510 atomizer is going to last forever. Seriously, this is getting ridiculous.

I bought 30 atomizers in September in case of a ban.
I thought they should last at least two years.

Now I think they'll last for 10 or 15 years.

I started Vaping 4/28/10.. my "D-Day"

Since then i have lost 2 Atty's.. Both LR atties,, both from Nhaler.com... one of them didn't make it past the first day.. the other lasted 3ish days.

My standard Atty's on the other hand.. is an entirely different story.. all of them are going strong. I blow out the one im using nightly, unless flooded. I rinse them under HOT HOT (hot as it comes out of the faucet, i used to be a saute cook/grill cook, i have very lil feeling in the tips of my fingers...) tap water every few days, and then do a dry burn on them.

I simply love LR atty's on my eGo.. but seeing as the lifespan of the ones im using arent that good,.... im switching to a 5v mod and going to continue using my standard atties.. and ive also recently gotten into 510 cartos (from madvapes.com).. using Dog's NF carto mod... and loving them on 5v PT.. so when i get my 5v mod.. ill likely switch over to using cartos primetime, and my standard atty's as back ups...

so this breed of people really exists!

i have one almost dead atty (not much vapor coming out) which i tried cleaning using a coke bath, but i think i messed up on the hot water boiling part, thing is, as soon as the water starts boiling i quickly took the atty out, tried to vape with it only to find out that the condition became worst, heh. so yea, that might be the screw up, gonna try it again but this time im gonna boil for 20 mins

thanks for the tip guys

I just started vaping in March, and haven't had anything quit on me yet. I don't do anything to clean anything unless there seems to be a problem-like decreased vapor production or a litle bit harder draw. Then I assume it's the atty, and I clean it by soaking in 151 Grain alcohol for 15-20 min and then run it under hot water to wash that out and blow it out and let it dry for 24 hours. I don't do any any dry burns, priming of the atty, or anything like that, just screw it on the bat. and get busy with vaping! Mabe I've just been lucky, I don't know, but I"M lovi'n it!

Now that you've come to ECF and said it, it will croak. Has happened numerous times to numerous people. That's why I don't say NUTHIN about my attys anymore :)
That's what happened to me. I think I went about 4 months without losing an atty. One or two days after I said I had never lost one, I had one burn out.

I'm jealous. I've gone througha bunch 901's mainly. I have them all saved though just incase their not dead after all. Not gonna get into all I've tried with them but I'm sure it's probably me & not all them.

I'm a 901 user and I was going through them prett good for the first couple months. They wouldn't really DIE they would just start not working as well. Cleaning attempts just made them worse. They're doing a lot better now though. I've been using this one SLB high resistance atty since the beginning of April and it's still kicking bootie. I don't try to clean attys at all any more. I think they prefer it that way.

I also have had really good luck! Have been vaping since March on an DSE 801 with 2 atomisers and 3 batteries in rotation and have had nothing die on me yet. I don't do anything until I perceive a problem (harder to take a drag or less vapor etc.) then I just deal with the problem. I have soaked 1 atty in 151 proof grain alcohol followed by a hot water rinse and air dry for 24 hours a couple of times, occasionally blow out an atty, but thats it! Now having said that, probably everything I have will die on me!
