Hello all don't get much time to read and post but I thought that this was an important piece to share with everyone. The Standing Committee on Health which began deliberations on 21 October 2014 held its second sitting on Tuesday 28 October 2014. The first sitting "evidence" was presented by bureaucrats which in my opinion was shameful and sheds light on the nature of the people we have "working" in government.
The second instalment was I thought very good. Three presenters were invited: Dr. Peter Selby (Chief, Addictions Program, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Toronto) who I thought brought the typical uninformed affiance of a Chief of department whose assistance prepared his notes for presentation; Dr. John Britton (Professor of Epidemiology, University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, UK Centre for tobacco and Alcohol Studies) who brought the only "real world" experience and the numbers to back it up. and finally Dr. Armando Peruga (Program Manager, World Health Organization's tobacco Free Initiative) the worst of the worst another bureaucrat.
Anyway recommended reading as these presentations and questions from our elected officials will give us all important clues as to where the fight will be, who we can count on as allies and the information they have received.
