That's about the best possible news e-smoking could have. He's a rep from Ocala in middle Florida. Horse country. Let's see what comes of this, but it's nice to have people in high places thinking e-smoking is great.

Hmmm. I'm near Orlando now, but I used to live in Ocala. I never even knew he smoked. Unfortunately for us, Tom Feeney lost, I can't stand Kosmas, Mel Martinez's office never even bothers to reply with a form letter, and Bill Nelson is just kind of lame.

Oh, well. Time to start writing letters again.

By the way, this is a little off topic, but I want to thank everyone here for all their stories regarding vaping, their personal preferences regarding devices/suppliers, and their actual experiences. I have been lurking for about a month, finally received my DSE901 kit last Friday from Katy at The Smokeless Shop (thank you!), and have not smoked an analog since. The information and advice I found here was wonderful, particularly for someone trying to figure out a good starter that did not cost too much.

I took it out to several bars this weekend, and I found that most people were very interested. I also found that I had no interest in lighting up; I had everything I needed. Well, that is until I discovered that I had lost one of my 2 sample bottles of juice.

in the long run.. he has the power to tell the fda what is and is not ok.. rather than the other way around

Oh nononononnonono. He is one representative in the House. He doesn't have anywhere near the power "to tell the FDA what is and is not ok". No single member of Congress has that power -- and thank our founding fathers for that fact!!!!

He can help influence legislative opinion of e-smoking. That would be a huge victory for us. He can work behind the scenes. Spread the good word. That's what he can do and it's great to know a national politician is an open user of e-cigs.

Just don't get carried away with the good news.

Congressional confirmation hearings will soon be held for the new Obama FDA commissioner nominee and it would be great if one congressman would ask her if she's heard of electronic cigarettes and if she has a position on whether they should have FDA oversight.

But I doubt anyone would be daring enough to ask, even a user. E-cigs are hardly an issue. There are too many bad peanuts out there, along with contaminated drugs and foods from China. :p

Read this if you think the FDA is just concerned with helping us poor smokers.

That's key for some smokers who aren't able to quit using currently available nicotine patches and gum, the company said.

Amazing news, thanks again Yvilla for getting upfront on this.
Being on the other side of the world I am maybe a lil bit less interested than you american vapers out there, but still this is some very pleasant stuff to read. I noticed that only Lacey mentioned RTV, and I think that someone should point this guy that way. The guys'n'gals over there seems to be much more into acting than the majority of posters here.

This is a great find yvilla. The original thread is back on page one in the General Esmoking forum. I remember reading that thread when it started and completely overlooked him saying he was a congressman.
Anyway, I think this forum is missing something. There should be an option to send a member an email instead of just a PM in case they don't get on here as much as most of us. I'm a member of a car forum that has that feature. Either send PM or send email. It uses the same kind of window except it goes to email instead of PM on the forum. I can't remember if we had to use an email when we signed up here. Anyway, if we had the email option we could almost be sure the recipient would get the message and read it faster.
Now, after I've typed all that -- does this forum already have an email option? If so, I havn't seen it.
