Impossible Noob Mistake...Please Help

I feel so stupid right now. Please forgive me, but I've only been vaping for a couple of months now.

My husband purchased a starter kit (vape pen with a couple of clearomizers, charger, one e juice) for me that has made me quite happy. Unfortunately, my husband and I share it (it's as terrible as it sounds), so I thought I would get him his own for Christmas.

I ordered a Triton Vape Pen Starter Kit from Halo. (Triton Tank Kit)
Everything was great, but I noticed the tanks had strings in them. A quick search revealed to me, the ultimate idiot, the difference between wick and coil heating. (I'm still confused, but I'm beginning to get the picture.) Since he has been sharing my vape pen, and is familiar with how to refill my tanks, I figured I get him some wick-less tanks or just let him use my secondary one. BUT! My tank didn't fit on the battery! The tank seemed to be too big to screw onto the batter. But his tanks totally fit great on mine! What is this madness?? Any suggestions on what to do from here would be appreciated. Sorry I'm such a dummy.

The Halo Triton battery can only fit their tanks. Its a proprietary connection.

The strings are silica wicks. Nearly all coils are fed by a wick, but some are more obvious than others . They may be silica like that or cotton. There are other materials people use also like rayon or stainless steel.

Also, I thought I might add I was going to purchase the same starter kit he purchased for me. However, we bought the kit out of state, and when I looked up the manufacturer (küre), they don't sell their products online.

I can make some suggestions. If you like the pen shape, you might like Vision Spinners for batteries. And maybe Kanger tanks like a Protank 3, Aerotank or Evod.

Or you might like a small box mod like an istick 30 or 40W with an Aspire Nautilus Mini or Eleaf GS Air tank. I don't recommend the istick 20W though because its very overpowered (inaccurate) and tends to burn up coils on those kinds of tanks.

If you want to get batteries and toppers (the part that holds the e-liquid) that will be interchangeable you need to buy those that have either 510 or ego threads. I took me a little while to discover and understand that.
any 510 threaded topper will fit any 510 threaded (the small inside threads) battery. Same with ego threaded toppers. As long as you have ego threads (the big outside threads) on your battery the topper will fit.

Thank you for your suggestions! I've had a few minutes to think it over, and I'm coming to terms with the purchase haha. These are "starter" kits for a reason, I suppose, for noobs like my husband and myself.

Well...since you've already made the purchase why not just give him what you bought? He will probably like it? Just because the tanks you have wont work on his battery doesn't mean it isn't good.

Well...since you've already made the purchase why not just give him what you bought? He will probably like it? Just because the tanks you have wont work on his battery doesn't mean it isn't good.

That's the current plan. Live and learn. It does come with two tanks (which I know he will love), and minus the small adjustment period, I think he may end up loving it. I had to calm myself down there a bit haha.

I added a bit more to this post. This is one of the things that caused me a lot of confusion starting out. We that have been at it for a while tend to forget where we were when we first started and forget how lost we were. I hope this will help.

Yes, they're "starter kits", but that doesn't make them bad or you any less of a vaper than someone using larger gear. There's reason why "ego style" gear has such longevity. It's great gear for some people. Don't let anyone make you feel like you're less of a vaper just because you use smaller gear. If your gear works for you, great! Be happy. Vape on and welcome to the community.

Sorry. Soap box. Sometimes it feels like people using smaller gear get bullied or pushed out of the community and that really irritates me. You are WELCOME here.

That's OK. Everyone has to start somewhere. We weren't born knowing what we know. We had to learn it through trial and error and discussion with other vapers. ECF was critical to my vaping education. Please, visit, read, and ask questions. We want you to learn.

Now, I'm really getting off my soap box. Really.

I agree with @roxynoodle . Going forward, if you like the tube style gear, you'll want to look for something that's eGo threaded or 510 threaded. That will give you the most flexibility in gear choices. If it's not variable voltage/wattage, don't buy it. My BF really liked Vision Spinner when we were using tube styles and I really liked the Innokin iTaste VV. Kanger has some great tanks that work on eGo batteries and a few other companies have some too. When it comes to tanks, I'm Kanger fangirl and I'm not sure if that's out of habit or objective evaluation and I'm a fan of Innokin batteries and I feel that's a bit more out of objective evaluation. I've not tried a lot of eGo threaded tanks that weren't Kanger, but I can tell you that I didn't like the iClear 16s or the Hello Twins tanks.
