/I recently bought a Gripper and the person suggested an IMR 18350 Li/Mn. I have two questions about the setup and unfortunatly it's a bit late as purchase has been made but would rather error on the side of caution.

Gripper
I assume that it is mechanical/unregulated mod so shouldn't I be using protected batteries with it?

My other problem is I don't see Li/Mn as being a supported battery chemistry for the Nitecore. http://www.nitecore.com/productDetail.aspx?id=52
Compatible with:
Li-ion: 26650, 22650, 18650, 17670, 18490, 17500, 17335, 16340(RCR123), 14500
Ni-MH / Ni-Cd: AA, AAA, C

Did I get the wrong type of battery for that mod, for the Nitecore, both, or neither. I'd really like to hear that it's safe and just use it but would rather have an honest answer if there is any risk with that setup ;)

I think I found my answer assuming this is correct.
IMR 18350, LiMn 800mAh Battery
IMR 18350, LiMn 800mAh Battery
These are rechargeable EH brand LiMn2O4 (commonly referred to as Lithium Manganese or LiMn) batteries. They are safer chemically than Li-Ion batteries and do not need a protection circuit. These cells can handle high amperage and are safe in series or in parallel. They can be charged with any Li-Ion battery charger with an output of 4.2V. These have a button top. They are 3.7V batteries that are rated for 800mAh. Battery cover may vary but the batteries are always high quality and accurately rated.
These are compatible with the VMax VV Mod (the VMax requires 2 batteries.)

So with that said it should be safe to use in the mechanical mod as well as being charged in the nitecore since the nightcore can charge li-ion batteries.

I think you'd get more replies in the general forum rather than the liquid one.

Oops...thought that's where I was. Any mod reading please move.

Other question I had is can I over drain these batteries. Do I need to hook it up to my vamo to get the volts left in the battery. It's a 3.7 volt battery so not sure when I should recharge it either.
