not in your head. seeing lots of improvement in the texture, and color of my skin. no more orange tint that smokers get. breathing is off the charts, no bad obsessing over the stinkies. change in activity levels. and mental wellness is improving also. i am not such a grouchy snit. anxious to connect with people who knew me as a permanent smoker. lots of changes in daily routine. turned off the 24 hour news puke-fest. no more shouting at the tv listening to paid entertainers telling me what i should be angry about. come to find out politics is a huge trigger. giving it up, and going to start appreciating what i have, and what i am accomplishing. let other old white guys worry about that crap. i have been handed a second chance, and i don't intend to waste it. shout out to all my fellow non smokers. hope your day was as awesome as mine.

Thanks, everyone! I plan on eventually quitting completely but probably not until I find that perfect ecig and that perfect juice! I'm definitely enjoying it and I'm not too worried about the few analogs I've been smoking, 5-10 has got to be WAY better than 25-30+!

I'm glad to see that you realize there are thousands of options for you and that you'll need to find the right setup for you to make vaping really work. It's no overnight success story, but I think you're doing exceptionally well and hope you keep it up and wish you the absolute best in finding that perfect setup. And I imagine hair is shinier and pores are cleaner without cigarette tar stuck to them. It certainly smells better. If you think it's good now, just wait til you're a couple months down the road. It never quits getting better and better.

All these healthy improvements can have some unwanted side effects as well, I was a PaD smoker for over 20 years and went cold turkey as soon as I got my V2, after about two weeks smoke free I realized my job stinks, I mean really smells bad. I work at a salvage yard and the smell of hydraulic oil and rust is everywhere, I just never noticed it before cause my senses were deadened from smoking. Given the choice I'll put up with the smell and keep on vaping.

Thanks, and good luck to you also! I had no intention of quitting whatsoever... Then my friend dropped this off last week because she was switching to an eGo, and I've been obsessed with learning about the vape world since that day! I'm not going to push myself like crazy to quit, but I'd definitely be happy with getting to under 5 analogs a day and maybe quitting completely slowly, by the end of 2013!

LOL I ended up quitting cigs a whole lot sooner than I told myself in the beginning. I had a whole carton of cigs plus a pack or two when I first got my e-cig. When I found that from the first vape, my cig use dropped dramatically, I was amazed. So I told myself that when the carton was empty I was not going to buy another pack. Well, that was in September. We just moved from Philadelphia to Florida in February. The almost full carton was finally thrown away. It was not going to make the move with me. I think there were 7 packs of cigs in that carton. From October 15th I've not had a cig.

When you get a better device to deliver your juice, you may surprise yourself in how quickly you will prefer vaping to smoking.

As for appearances when switching, I really haven't noticed. My son did say my skin looked better. It could be because I'm now drinking more water than ever. :). As a singer, I notice my breath control is quite improved! Notes are easier to hit and maintain.

Congrats on finding ECF and keep coming back here. This also helps as a support system. Where else will you find so many others going through the same thing you are? I totally credit ECF and all the fine people to keeping me smoke free. ;)

:toast: here's to us!

I love your story, it sounds like mine :)

I didn't ever intend on quitting, I thought I couldn't. A couple of months ago I picked up a disposable ecig and once I got an eGo kit I was down to 1-2 analogs per day. For me, it sucked to need a smoke first thing in the morning; I called it my jump start for the day. I didn't like doing it and I felt like a crack addict not being able to quit that morning routine. I got some menthol high nicotine juice and from that day forward I haven't even wanted to smell an analog, much less smoke one. I knew I already had the right gear, I just needed the right juice.

I am officially a non smoker and couldn't be more proud (in addition to smelling better, smelling stuff I never smelled before and tasting things I didn't know tasted like crap).

Good luck in your journey. You will find your juice one day and never look back :)

*edited to add that I smoked for 33 years and had never quit for longer than a day or 2

I started vaping 8 days ago, but I've still been smoking analogs here and there. I've reduced my analog use from about 30 a day to less than 10 a day, and I swear I can already see the differences. To me it seems like my hair has been softer, shinier & healthier looking, and it really seems like my complexion has improved quite a bit. Is it just in my head or do the changes surface this quickly??

The changes are not in your head - they are on your head :)
Sorry, I couldn't resist that.

I noticed changes in my skin, eyes, and hair within a week of stopping the cigs too. Congratulations on your decision to vape.
Happy Vaping,
Paula

What are you looking for in an e-cig & juice? Now is a good time to get opinions of what people would recommend to your taste.

As far as flavor, I am not sure yet. I got some Butter Pecan, 80pg/20vg, 18mg, as a freebie, and I'm not a sweets/dessert person, thought I would hate it and it's now my ADV. Planning on ordering a 50ml bottle next time I order. I'm not into THs, I ordered some pre-filled cartos because I usually smoke Marlboro Lights and after I eat I wanted something with a plain tobacco flavor, but I ordered a high nic content and they hit so harsh and like no vapor production... So I'm thinking, stick with lower (under 20mg) nic content. I also ordered 3 bottles of juice, 80pg/20vg, 24mg, and the TH was too much for me and there wasn't a whole lotta vapor production on those either.

Higher PG more TH. higher VG more vapor. Also higher nic will be harsher. I found that I've now dropped to 12mg nic after starting with 24 and 18mg nic. I did need the 18 and 24mg to start with then I slowly dropped down. The place I get my liquids from does a 15mg nic also so it was an easier transition. Each order I would get two different levels and not think about which nic ratio I was vaping. About every other order I would drop the nic level.

I think my next order I will take it down another step. So I will order 12 and 6mg. I like a 70/30 PG/VG ratio, with the lower nic I don't get a harsh throat hit.

So many choices...... :)

And as far as what I'm looking for in a PV, i just want something that delivers and isn't a pain to fiddle with. Nothing big or gaudy or complicated. I think ECF users have convinced me to go with an eGo and clearos.

A friend gave me some 50/50 and I found that especially as a new user it is harder to load the carto with this ratio. I kept getting a burnt taste, I tried and tried and tried. I asked her about it and she said she had the same problem. Maybe when I switch to clearos, 50/50 would work perfect for me. ??

It should be ok in a clearo. If you go with the vision Vivi nova (that's the only one I know) when the wick gets opaque the juice has wicked up to the coil. Fill it, let it wick and vape. I like simple and this to me is totally simple.

I think you are doing Great !

The eGo-C is the thing that got me (a 40+yr PAD 'burro red' smoker) turned into a Vaper- from day one !
Some good vape gear, good juice....FREEDOM !
Two Months Today !

The changes are not all in your head (or on your head :2cool:).
You breath better, smell (and smell) better, sleep better...not to mention, feeling so much better about your choices...
or-as Suzy Orman says... 'You attract power- because you feel- and are, more powerful'

So, IMHO- you do have the good physical changes, and you do make the good mental changes too.

We are all here rooting for You- Roxstar !
Best to You !

ive had a sore throat all week from a cold going around and my normal 75/25 PG/VG was to harsh on me so i made up some 100% vg to vape,i was concerned with it not wicking in a carto so i used a double punched carto and let it sit for a half hour before using its been working great all week, i was shocked myself so maybe try a carto that has two holes if you have one around?
