We did a little experiment with smok Tech eGo batteries after seemingly having a high failure rate with another companies eGo batteries.

Purposely, we ordered 1000 Silver 900mah eGo batteries and 500 Black 900mah eGo batteries.. The batteries were indentical in build and quality except for color..

Out of the 1000 silver eGo batteries(not a common color carried by other resellers), we had 8 returns because of either failures or not charging or whatever other reasons.

On the Black eGo Batteries (with the exact appearance of every other resellers black eGo batteries), we received 78 returns out of 500 batteries for the same reasons as the silver.

I feel the test proved was that the smok Tech Batteries in general are really solid but that carrying the same product as everyone else leads to something not quite right :)

LOL I think I may have one of the goofy black Ego Batteries. One of the two I ordered doesn't seem to hold a charge and the switch is a bit faulty, I can still use it for now though but I am hoping you guys get in some new stock soon of good Ego Batts. I like being overprepared and having long lasting batteries is awesome for the rare cases of my leaving the house. I do want to try a DSE905 with a 510 adapter, but all i want is the body, not the whole kit (and i am not a big fan of the color yellow that you have in stock atm).
I am hoping you guys are restocked on all your items soon though. Wanting to place one more order to finish building up a decent stock of vaping supplies. I keep enough on hand for friends to try.

I cannot say anything about the MadVapes ego batteries, but my experience with the Tornados has been catastrophic. The Tornados are definitely Joye products since I cracked one open to inspect it after failure.

Of the 5 regular and 5 megas that I ordered, two were lost when I had to jump off my boat to grab someone who could not swim too well. Not the ego's fault. Of the remaining 8, I am down to one. Some of these just failed; some started smoking and heating up so I tossed them into a sand bucket. I keep a bunch of different batteries in my two offices and at home.

I had 3 Rivas fail because of the switch collapsing into the housing. Probably around $250-$300 in dead batteries. Ouch!

8 out of 1000 is not a high failure rate, although in today's world it is questionable QC. AT the rate of 78 out of 500, I would take my production manager, flay him with a cat of nine tails, throw salt on his wounds, and leave him chained outside naked in the dead of a Michigan winter.

So now, I use an Icon and Copper as my running around units. The 14500 batteries give me decent duration, although I miss the regulated circuit and battery warning light. Protected batteries can be had from China for a few dollars a piece. Lot better than tossing a $20 battery!!!!

The new Smok Tek product looks interesting. I wonder how big it will be. I am signed up for it.

I can understand variable atty performance because of all the variables that are involved from juice, to maintenance, to vaping style, not to mention production variances. Of course, the atomizer/cartomizer is the least understood part of the e cig although the most important. If you want to challenge me on that statement, count up the number of posts on the topic first.

Battery production is well understood. Failure here is strictly human error, and it's on the production side. Today's battery charger circuits all have control circuitry. Ego styles have their own circuitry as well. When the battery runs down, toss it on a decent charger, and one is back in business.

Ergo, Ego, I will never buy another self contained battery unit again!

Why would you spend so much money on ego and ego clone batteries when you could have bought a bunch of big battery mods that last a hell of a lot longer than an ego battery and th Li-ion battery is a lot cheaper as well?

Some folks are scared of mods and the 'complexity' sometimes.. eGo's do have the sleak, cheap, plug it in and go factor going for them.

As with most of the people who get into vaping, I started out with the a mini. I did a moderate amount of research by googling "review of e cigarettes" and Greensmoke came out high.

Little did I realize at the time, that this was all hype sponsored by Greensmoke. It's easy enough to set up a web site and call yourself an expert reviewer. Also, it was Apr 20 and my deadline for quitting was May 1. Quitting was to be my gift to her for her MBA (Quite a young lady since she could have taken a new car. She got that anyway.)

Soon realized what a rip off that was; at least they gave me most of my money back. Then went into the Joy 510, then needed more battery life, so I went up a step to the Tornado.

When my last ego dies, I will be done with them. Now I have only tube mods. Even though I have a Buzz and a ProVari, I don't always vape high voltage with all my juices.

Part of the problem is due to the image. Vaping on some big monster mod just draws too much attention. Even in my own plants, I will only vape in my own office behind closed doors and never in front of my employees

So each of us will have a different reason for picking the ego. I certainly did not expect this type of disastrous quality.

I got my Smok Tech eGo a couple weeks ago and i LOVE it. One caveat, though: the little silicone button on the switch tends to want to pop out if you look at it too strongly. I completely lost one, but luckily, MadVapes is kind of awesome and they're gonna let me exchange it. Don't know what i'll do once i lose another button though! I can't seem to find anyone who sells them.

The only other issue i had with mine was also a battery issue: only the charger that came with my kit would charge the Smok Tech batteries. My own previously-purchased charger, which looks nearly identical, would not work. It did charge my other batteries though. I thought that was really weird.

I ordered a couple of the 2.0 ohm atties to try. The 1st works well, though somewhat inconsistently. Initially, it would vape very strong with a few drop, then quickly transition to hot/dry as the juice got used up. This could be a good thing, because it's easy to tell the difference between needing more juice, and needing to change out my battery. However, it's been getting mellower over time, and now just fades instead of the hot/dry vape as it gets dry. Still, good taste, etc.

I've been unable to test the 2nd one, because it's a bit on the small side, and none of my drip tips will go in it. I can get a 510 cartridge only part-way in.

I think the point may have been that the "failure" rate doesn't always have as much to do with the product as it does who bought it and their perceptions. The batteries were all the same but for the color. The black ones that everyone and their dog carries came back at a high rate. The silver ones that only a couple of places carry were not returned at nearly the same rate.

Smok Tech is a fairly new manufacturer with supposedly one of the techs from another popular e-cig manufacturer doing development.

I like thier products and packaging plus they let me set a 12 second cutoff time on the 510 batts instead of 8.

So far all the stuff we've received from them has been top notch!

I have heard the batteries will not hold a charge as long as Joyetech, is this true? If they are as good, I'll try them.
