Well, I'm lost...this is totally new to me. I've been a smoker for 20+ years and always trying to quit. My will-power obviously takes a vacation whenever I try to quit. My wife has been trying to get me to quit after she herself quit on her own and now can't stand to smell me. Last night she suggested I look into e-cigs so I did and it would seem the industry is larger than I realized. I read most of the technical data, chemical formulas, etc,, which I understood, but all the "cool" names for e-cig parts and different manufacturer's, etc, is where I get stuck. Plus finding a solid place to purchase what I need to get started.
Can someone supply me with a local or interent place to purchase a get started kit, maybe?
Maybe give me the basics? I really want to quit what I think is being called the "analogs"???? and this approach seems feasible. I don't need the high-end stuff, just something to get me started. I live in Rockcastle County, below Richmond, and work in Lexington plus go to University of Kentucky. Any info would be appreciated.

Welcome to ECF! Don't forget backups. You'll want at least 2 batteries - 3 is better. Also, when you order juice, order small sample packs before committing to larger bottles. :)

AMEN! Backups are key. I got a single ego passthrough when I started. I figured since I could charge it while I vaped, I wouldnt need a second. WRONG! Almost bought a pack of analogs the day it broke. Luckily I knew a guy from the local vape store who let me borrow an ego 650 until the store was back open the next day.

I smoke a pack a day. I am down to smoking Marlboro 72 lights. Thanks for all the welcomes. I found a good youtube video from this site that helped. I also called around to the local smoke shops and they are either clueless or too busy to help. I've looked into a few starter kits like:
Halo G6
Bauway CE4
Ego C passthrough
Ego Twist

Whatcha think?

My will power is often non-existent lol, and I NEVER came anywhere close to quitting until I tried a second brand of disposables. I was overwhelmed by the terminology too and not sure where to start. Thank God for this forum as I was able to skip the cigarette look-a-like kits and buy an eGo-Twist start up kit from Valley View Vapes and a few extra CE4's (those clear tanks that screw into the battery). I still had no clue really but saw that the consensus was that this was a very effective start-up for a newbie.

I guess I'm a hands on person, and I had to bite the bullet and just dive in in order to understand the terms and understand what everyone was talking about. I'm still learning but I've came a good ways since I was running around crazy thinking I needed to know everything before I started.

My wife tells me all the time to stop over thinking things...lol. The kit you mentioned is the one I am thinking about. Thanks.

So far I'm buying all my juice from ECBlend Flavors. I haven't looked around that much yet (I have tried Halo too however, plus an overpriced vendor at my local mall out of necessity), but from what I've found they're one of the cheapest out there and have a great variety. You can get 5ml bottles (which is a good size to try different flavors out) for around $2.50. Alot of people recommend Heather's Heavenly Vapes, Mad Vapes, and Johnson's Creek among others.

As far as flavors go it's all up to your personal taste. I thought I was going to need something that tasted like a cigarette to help with the transition but quickly found that I personally liked fruity flavors alot more. Of course to each is to own, that's what I settled on.

And with so many flavors out there, don't be scared to experiment with what you like and don't like, it might take some trial and error and a short amount of time but you'll figure it out.

As a "temporary" measure until you get your kit, you could go to Walmart or Walgreens (if you have one). Walmart sells Mistic ecigs, which are not bad. The battery lasts quite a while, and the cartridges are amazingly tasty. Walgreens sells Blu ecigs, and they have 5 flavors they offer. Their starter kit is pricey though, not sure if they sell a simple kit. I think they have disposables too. With the others I recommend the Ego Twist battery. I have the 650 mah, it lasts all day for me. Definitely get more than 1 battery. I actually have 6 now. Stainless is my choice, as most of the ones that have color will show scratches, even the black. I'm a new believer in the T2 Kanger clearomizer, my supplier is Vapor Alley in MD. They have replaceable wick parts which will wear out with use, and can be changed for new ones, making your clearomizer last much longer. My choice for the twist is 2.5 ohm, which probably means nothing to you right now, but to me it means it won't burn so hot that it is unvapable to me. They sell a 1.8 ohm, but it fried my juice and tasted horrible. good luck and keep on vaping, it is definitely worth it!
