Got some IkenVape Boge 801 Fusions in the mail yesterday. 16 LR and 16 SR. Also ordered two Stealth 510-801 adapters, but they sent me three Adjustable 510-801 connectors instead. https://www.ikenvape.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ADPT
Opened up a SR Fusion and carefully popped 4 perfect 1mm holes in it. Two at the bottom, two at the top.
Then I saturated the filling overnight with Boba's Bounty. Thought I would give these cartos the old BB test.
I should mention that the steel on the 801 Fusions was buffed to a mirror shine. Much nicer that the sometimes grainy exterior of the standard Boge 510's. They seem to be of very high quality. Not sure if this is specific to this vendor, but the Ikenvape ones do have a very good build quality. Filler in the Fusions was dense, but it did accept the Boba's Bounty with some time, and proper drip filling. The knob at the end of the Fusions makes it impossible to condom fill, so a long session of drip filling is necessary and tedious. The filler in the Fusions was also all the way to the top, ending just slightly under where the drip tip seats.
This morning, when I was satisfied that the carto was completely saturated I loaded it into my Mini Submarine tank from Momandpopvaporshop, and it fit perfect. Tanks - Mom and Pop Vapor Shop
Put the tank on my Provari and set it at 3.7v. The Carto was reading 2.9ohms. I slowly started to break it in, increasing by .1 volt every dozen puffs or so up to 4.2v.
I noticed that the draw is much more open and smoother on the Fusions, when compared to a Boge 510. It was almost like sucking on a straw compared to a Boge, but in a good way. Vapor production appears to be the same, throat hit appears to be slightly diminished, and flavor seems to be slightly enhanced.
The adapters that I received instead of the Stealth Adapters that I ordered are horrible. They are very big, bulky, and look almost comical on my provari when the tank is on. It makes the tank stick off of the mod a good 1/4 inch, and then the tab at the end of the Fusion has some length as well, so it really does stick up off the mod quite a bit. Also, when I unscrewed the fill-port screw to allow for some flooding, which is common with Boba's Bounty in this tank, the Adjustable adapter got some juice in it. It was an absolute pain to clean, and became slidey and very hard to get off the Provari. When I did get it off, I cleaned the adapter up, but it still had some juice inside that was impossible to get out, and I switched it over to my eGoC Twist 1000Mah.
On the Twist with the adjustable adapter, it is still comically long. However, at about 4.2v I am getting new flavors out of the Fusion that I haven't experienced on either LR or SR 510 Boges. I am getting a somewhat cherry hint to Boba's Bounty Which I have never experienced before. Granted my BB Stash is Flavor Bumped, and very well steeped.
But my reactions to the Carto itself is that:
-Very high quality construction. Polished metal, and good full filler.
-Nice open draw
-Comparable vapor production to Boge 510's, maybe slightly more
-Slightly reduced throat hit compared to Boge 510's
-Slightly increased flavor compared to Boge 510's
I will say that these are some very high quality Cartos, and with the right adapter would be even better. I haven't been through enough of them yet to form a solid opinion, but when Boges can be purchased any day of the week for $0.83, and the Ikenvape Boge 801 Fusions sell for $1.85 I am not solidly convinced that they are worth the extra $1.02 a piece. They are nice, but a proper adapter is needed to really make them shine.
Will report back after I've had more time with these. Would love to hear others opinions on the as well.
