Hello, all. I just started vaping today :). I'm using Blu-cigs with the high nic cartomizers, and I haven't looked at an analog smoke all day. I know these aren't for everyone, and I've read a boatload of negative reviews about them (after I bought them, ofc ) but I'm satisfied with them, thus far. I'm trying to switch completely and avoid ever using real cigarettes again.

Naturally, I have a few questions.

How often does one need to vape if you smoke a half pack a day (10 cigarettes)?
Are nausea and loose bowels a common side effect for newbies?
Is there any warnings or risks I should be aware of when vaping as far as poisoning goes? I tried Googling this one, but all the results were biased CDC reports from nutjobs.

Sorry if this stuff is already answered, but the Information section of this forum is sort of very overwhelming.

Thanks. :vapor:

That depends on how often you like to smoke and the concentration of Nicotine in the solution. I usually finish off around 4-5mL of juice per day, so I get the lightest amount of Nicotine that I can. Alternatively you can just vape till you no longer have cravings. The concentration does play a big part in it though.

Nausea is usually a sign of Nicotine overconsumption at least for me.

Uhhh... Don't drink the ejuice and you should be fine.

Congrats with the switch!

Nausea can be a sign of too much nicotine. Maybe switch to a lower nicotine liquid?

You weren't a heavy smoker, but you'll vape more than you smoked. At least I do. I vape whenever I feel like having a vape. There are no rules to these things. :)

I haven't tried the Blu-cigs, so I can offer you no advise there. As long as it keeps you away from the analogs!

Hope I've been somewhat helpful, good luck to you on your vaping journey! :)

First, welcome to ECF and the world of vaping! I will try to answer some of your questions and I am sure others will be along shortly to add more information.
How often you vape is totally dependent on you and what you are comfortable with. I pretty much vape all day. I may go for several hours if i am busy doing something, but sometimes I vape for an hour or more. I am currently vaping most of my juices at 12mg nicotine, but some of my flavors are at 0mg.
The nausea and loose bowels sounds like too much nicotine! I don't know what mg your nicotine is at now, but I smoked between 10-12 small cigars per day.
As for the safety, no one can say for absolute certainty that vaping is safe, but it has to be better than smoking!!

Again, welcome. Tons of information here and lots of people willing to help out!

Thanks for the information, everyone. These cartomizers (there has to be a simpler, less dumb term for these cartridges) house 16MG of nic. I wasn't aware there was such a thing as too much, but after taking 2-3 hits every 30mins, I'm back to my "regular levels" for me. I guess I wasn't a heavy smoker like everyone around me seems to think, ha. I'm doing this for my girlfriend (who has asthma) and she has no issues with the vape mist! Gee, I wish I knew about these years ago. :/

Since you're in SoCal, you might want to pop into one of the many shops that can be found locally... i'm sure if you yelp or something, you'll be surprised at just how many stores are nearby.

Most of the pysical affects of vaping are not from vaping but rather from stopping smoking. As the garbage from smoking leaves your body there's an adjustment period. It would be the same if you didn't vape and started smoking. As far as how many times do you need to vape from quitting stinkies my best answer would be as much as you like. We're all different.

Grats on the switch. Stopping the burners will do some stuff to your body as you are purging the buildup of smoke chems in you. Vaping doesn't necessarily cause the rumbly tumbly anymore than stopping the burners, though nausea may be from over nic. My advice is to vape when you feel the urge to smoke and when you even start thinking of smoking. There's more to smoke than nicotine that you have to shake off, so expect some odd feelings the first day or 2. As far as poisoning, don't drink the juice and you should be ok.

First of all, I'm 24, short and female. I started smoking about 3 years ago. My tolerance level for everything is low. I don't understand how I'm a noob because it doesn't take much for me to get a "decent vape" ? Everyone is different as someone else pointed out.

As for everyone else, thanks again for the helpful replies.

Welcome!

Not sure I can offer anything new as far as helpful that hasn't already been said.

I, too, suspect your nausea is probably caused by nicotine overdose. You're small, and -- at 10 cigarettes per day -- I would call you a light smoker. 16mg of nicotine may well be overdose levels for you. It kinda depends on how often you vape.

Rather than trying to vape less, I'd go to a lower level of nicotine in your liquid. The idea being that you need to be able to vape whenever you feel like smoking, but only get enough nicotine to calm the cravings, not make you sick.

I smoked around 2 packs per day when I changed to vaping, and I started out at 18mg liquid. However, I tend to be a chain-vaper so I soon realized that the 18mg was too much and dropped down to 12 mg, and sometimes I even mix that with 6mg.

As to vaping with Blu-cigs, if you're happy with them, that's all that matters. As everybody else has said, vaping is a highly personal thing and what gets somebody else all excited may leave you totally flat, and vice versa.

Again, welcome to the forum!

Since you were a light smoker, yeah, the nausea could be too high a nicotine level. Though Blu's levels seem tiny to me but I was a heavy smoker (and male and not little... especially around the waist lately :) ). Blu doesn't have a lot of variety but does offer lower nic versions though you have to order them direct usually. Everything I've seen in the stores is the "high" level cartridges.

I'd certainly try cutting back on how often you take a puff at least until you can get some lower nic cartos.

That said, one thing often missed by "noobs" (hate that word actually :) ), is quitting smoking has "side effects". And despite what the rabid anti-nicotine brigade will say, switching to vaping IS quitting smoking. Most (myself included) find it easier than any other method of getting off the death sticks but it's not without it's bumps and turbulence. You may not escape all the effects of quitting smoking. So the thing to ask first is whether something happening to you is normal for people who quit smoking. Often the answer is "yes".

Myself, I found the positives out weighed the negatives fast. So it was worth putting up with the nuisance effects of dumping smoking. My biggest was absolutely nutty sleep schedules. I flipped back and forth between having so much energy, I never wanted to sleep and wanting to sleep a week. But it leveled off after a while. And the quality of the sleep I got and get is better than in many, many years.

I've thought for a while now that Blu is better suited to (former) light smokers. I started with them but they weren't enough for me. But I was a two pack a day smoker. If they work for you, great. If you later find they're not enough, tons of folks around here can point you to other systems. But I am a firm believer in whatever works, works, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;)

Hi neighbor! I too am short and female...oh to be 24 again! Loose bowels could be from not drinking enough water, vaping dehydrates you a bit, so drink drink drink lots of water to overcome that. I smoked 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day and 18 mg of nic satisfies me, I too think you may be a bit high for your previous habit. I join all others welcoming you!

If you're concerned about side effects of quitting smoking, this is a good read to get a feel for what others have reported as normal:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3305

You were a light smoker, but your body will still go through a period of adjustment and ridding itself of all the chemicals and toxic goo. It's normal. Hang in there, it's worth it!

Hang on to those high nic carts and switch to one if you have a craving. You can always go back to the lower nic level when it eases. I started with an ego setup and having a higher nic liquid to use at those times helped a lot.

You can do this! :)
