Hey, I know this thread is old, but if you're still reading, could you tell me what you did with this? I have a faulty intellicig battery (led broke, plastic ash fell off), a soldering iron and some free time. Is there a resistor in the KB cable or did you connect the +5V to where the positive battery terminal would have gone?

No any resistors. You are right, I have connected the +5v to positive battery terminal. To be honest after weeks of use my device seems to be too "strong"... It produces clouds of vapor and provides good throat hit :thumb:, but from time to time my laptop gives me a message saying that "unknown usb device is exceeding the power capacity of the usb port bla bla bla...":p. So I would like to reduce voltage to not hurt my pc, but do not know how

Buy a powered USB Hub, you do not have to plug the hub into a computer to use it, just the wall outlet. Problem solved.

It's good idea but very often I use my laptop as a battery powerpack when on the go, in airports etc. So I would like to improve my smoking device to make it more safe for my pc
