So, this is more of a rant sort of post haha. I'm currently in Canada from Alabama vacation. I vaped for about 2 years but made the decision to not bring my setup to Canada with me. First interesting thing was how lenient the airports I went to seemed to be with signs in regards to allowing e-cig products in checked bags.

Even on the flights I took through Delta never had a problem but I found it interesting how the flight attendants included no e-cigarettes into their presentation before each flight. In Canada, there is a lot more signs than I expected that have "No smoking and no e-cigarettes allowed" signs in front of each store.

Now, for the interesting part for myself. I vaped 4mg unflavored every day, I'd say 10-15ml a day in a Reo Grand. I was curious to see how I would do without vaping for the duration of my trip which is 13 days. Mainly because people ask if it's hard to quit or what would happen if you couldn't vape for a certain period of time. I'm 3 days in so far and I'm actually doing quite well without it. The actual vaping part itself isn't a problem. No headaches, not irritable or anything like that.

The hardest part for me, is not having a setup with me. I'm used to it being on the table or holding my Reo when I go to the store or around the house. It's the motion of vaping that I miss more than vaping itself. I personally found this a bit odd, but it's like my hands aren't busy now so I don't even know what to do with my hands at the moment.

I used to cough up a good amount of phlegm, partly I expected it to be the result of vaping 100% VG on the unflavored. From the time being here, I've maybe coughed phlegm up once every morning and once at night before brushing my teeth.

Overall, I know this will be a long read for a lot of people, but I thought it was an interesting thing to post about. Especially since I didn't know what to expect coming in. Don't get me wrong I would love to vape right now, but to because I need or want nicotine. I just want something to do with my hands to act like I was vaping.

Thanks for your time everyone, Danny.

Nice to hear that nicotine isn't ruling you. I can understand the whole habit/ritual which becomes ingrained in you. I think that's why vaping works so well for stopping cigarettes. There is still the ritual of inhaling and the satisfaction of seeing that cloud, and the security of holding something in your hand.

As to travel with vaping stuff, I've never had an issue at any airport. Just batteries in your carry on. As I usually travel with only a rolling on carry on and small pack it's pretty much academic. Never even been asked if they could paw through my bag after it was x rayed either.

I'm vaping half year and i already noticed that too, i can not vape for whole day without any problem.
While before i started vaping i was smoking about 2 packs a day, every 30 min +- i'd need a cigarette, if not i'd go crazy.

Still less than a year for me off cigs, and I will admit if I'm stuck traveling for many hours, I get pretty antsy. I'll admit to sneaking a few quick hits in the plane's lavatory, but I only vape a high PG in low wattage anyway, so there's no cloud to speak of as long as I don't try to blow a big exhale right into the smoke detector.

While I may not be at that point of going long periods of time, I am finding that after using 24 mg juice and now going to 12 mg, I notice no difference, and there's been no change in the amount I vape daily.

It's not really a thing about nicotine for myself, but the habit/ritual behavior which "controls" me.

I've dropped my nicotine from 18 mg down to 3 mg, and I think I could probably go zero-nicotine if I had to. However, I'm not prepared to stop vaping. I need to "inhale and exhale" something throughout my day periodically, or I feel agitated.

Using 3mg here, though i vape on 80-120w xD i use around 25-30 ml of juice every day.

So you're still getting a solid nic hit. Just today, I got a delivery of some Vanilla tobacco I really liked from Mt. Baker. I liked the 24 mg, but after time with 12 mg Ry4 from VVV, I decided to roll back to 18 mg, as my 24 mg Vanilla felt harsh. Fresh wicked my Serpent mini and the Vanilla still feels too harsh at 18 mg (65% PG). I guess I really do need to reduce across the board. Looks like I have a little diluting to do to use this. I will give a little bit to see if steeping helps cut the harshness before resorting to that.

It was never a worry with having an issue. It was more, I knew I would be staying in motels and other peoples houses. I didn't want to rely on just going outside to vape instead of doing it in the house like I would at home.

This statement is ambiguous. Do you mean they included a "no e-cigarettes" rule in their presentation, or do you mean that their presentation did not include e-cigarettes? First you say they're very "lenient", but then you go on to say they have signs everywhere restricting their use. That's the opposite of lenient -- did you mean "strict"?

Not to encourage bad behavior, and I certainly wouldn't vape in someone's home without their explicit consent, but I've never had an issue in any hotel with vaping in my room. Again, a high PG, low watt tootling which is my standard, and never a comment on odor or questioning by housekeeping. And hotels these days will quickly charge you a big penalty if you do smoke cigarettes in your room, so they're pretty attuned to it.

Well seeing how I said the AIRPORTS were lenient and I said IN CANADA they had signs restricting use. You quoted specifically the flight attendants portion of my post. I don't think you even really understand what you're talking about.

Hell I don't know, I thought maybe Canada had some airports, too. But I guess you just sort of "tuck and roll" when you're somewhere above where you're trying to visit, then? I hope they at least slow down a little, first...

I have only taken cig a likes along when traveling and usually quite a few disposables, just easier for me to pack and know I can get a Nic fix easily.

I tried that my last trip with some Vuse, which is how I got into the whole getting of cigarettes/vaping thing to begin with. One puff and I just couldn't. The taste compared to a real vape just wouldn't let me. Went back to my little travel vape supply kit (I do only use tanks with factory coils for travel, there's no way I'm going to start rewicking while traveling) and everything was fine.

Cinnamon Toothpicks if you can find them, help a great deal... I knew a guy who couldn't quit smoking with the patch alone, next time he tried he used the patch along with those cinnamon toothpicks and it worked for the hand to mouth movement... (This was back in the 90's)

This is an interesting read. Thanks dbrant01. I never leave my vape alone for 5 minutes, it's always by my side. Though, I think I could leave it alone now too if need be. I have noticed that even though I vape when I wake and straight after dinner, it's not the same. The satisfaction I got from a smoke after eating was unbeatable. Now I think I vape at those times out of pure habit and denial. I sometimes wonder why I bought all this nicotine...
It seems to be a hand to mouth habit for me mostly. I've heard from many ppl that nicotine by itself without combustion and the rest in cigs is not as addictive as perceived. Am I wrong?

That's great for you though.

Myself, I'll keep going till I have nothing left...
Saying that, I'll be buried with my kayfun & Gus :thumb:

That rig will never go in the will, they can prize it from my cold dead hands.

I've tested myself and gone without vaping for 24hours 4 times now, when down to low levels of nicotine 1.5-3mg less than 5ml a day it's no problem...

I liked smoking, now I like vaping, I've proven to myself a few times now that I can give it up if need be but I don't because I like it ;P
