Travel and Vaping Canada to US baggage restriction - any recent experience?

I know Canada is being extremely strict on items taken into the cabin for flights to the US compared with the rest of the world. Luckily I have a small bag that fits in with the size requirement so I can take a few small items. However I'm concerned that e-cigs are not on the list of individual items allowed - I have a 30 hour journey over 3 flights with a total of 7 hours layover to look forward to, with no access to my hold luggage until I arrive back in sunny Scotland!

I'm just looking for advice from anyone who's flown Canada to US since 26 December, and taken (or tried to take) e-cigs onto the plane.

im flying on feb 13 i would rather have it in the luggage than get it taken away on the carry on.

Yeah, but the key for me is 30 hour journey! Cigarettes are allowed and I can puff away my 5.5 hours at Schiphol (even if the smoking cabins have somehow been removed, I can go outside), but otherwise would be pretty much screwed! The other (first) stop is Minneapolis and I doubt I'd even get time to jog outside for an analog, only got 1.5 hours there.

This is the first time I've been annoyed at Canada!

Perhaps it will help if you check your airlines' policies on batteries and/or hazardous materials rather than electronic cig...

I just came through Calgary last week. No rollerboards of any size or type are being allowed on board. A woman may carry on a purse. You can carry on your briefcase but only if it contains a laptop. No backpacks even with a laptop... in that case the owner had to remove the laptop and check the backpack.
Everyone got a pat down from the RCMP's and every bag that did make it through to security was opened and all the contents were examined. As I mentioned in another post I had several assembled KR8's in my laptop containing briefcase and they were swabbed but no further questions were asked.
I've been flying weekly for the better part of 25 years and this customs/security pass was by far the most intensive and intrusive I've ever experienced.

Thanks y'all, looks like I'm safe to carry on a minimal amount of e-cig stuff. Yeah, the battery thing makes sense. I'm taking my tiny laptop and am now thinking of putting it in my old large laptop bag which also has room for a book and e-cig stuff can go in the pocket - grand.

Wow, wait til I get back and tell folk I was patted down by a mountie!
