Interesting, indeed. But I don't like it, and judging by his edits, his readers didn't either. Here's what set me off:
However, FDA will not be regulating them as drug
devices but as
tobacco products: source. This is a good thing for people who like e-cigarettes. That means that it will be easier for companies to put products on the market.
Smaller companies that want to manufacture e-cigarettes won't have to get each individual device or ingredient approved. They just need to use ones already approved for use.
If companies can prove that adults like the flavors as much as kids do and avoid specifically marketing to kids with cartoons and such, there will be no problem.
My posting wasn't meant to sound like I was defending FDA. I know they are not perfect and have made bad decisions in the past. I was simply trying to show that although regulation is assuredly coming, FDA is not the greedy monster agency some here think they are. They have rationales for their actions and can be reasonable if you provide them with enough evidence to do so. Participate in the discussion and get your voice heard by people that matter. Manufacturers out there need to organize and use their pooled efforts to get their message across as well.
So according to him, everything is okay. Smaller companies will just have to use the devices "already approved." And juice manufacturers will only have to "prove" that adults like flavors. And we're all okay because the FDA will allow us to "participate in the discussion" and will actually listen to us. ??? Yeah, right....
Guess my vote goes to "FDA shill blowing smoke."
