I'm thinking of purchasing the Revenger Mini today after work. It can go up to 80 watts with its internal battery but my al85 with it's external battery "technically" can too. But I know that there is a limit to the amount of wattage that I can go up to with the al85 with say a 20A battery. My question is how these internal 80W devices work. Is it made to be perfectly safe to use 80W based on it's internal battery, unlike a 20A 18650 for example?

Yes, it's safe to use. As far as I know a regulated device boosts the Voltage in your device to hit the Wattage that you have set it to if necessary, and also bucks it down to lower the Voltage if it needs to. An internal battery in your device means that the device should actually be safer than using an 18650 because you don't have the option of using the wrong (dangerous) battery.

Its still the same battery just a different shape Its a lot closer to whats in your cell phone vs whats in your flashlight. When it quits holding a charge so well you can take the mod apart and replace the battery there will be numbers on it and you can order the the same battery pack. If the mod has been around for a little while and has no reported issues Im sure its fine to use.

I'm mainly wondering if I can go safely on the max wattage of 80W, unlike many single cells.

The Mod should shut down if you are pushing it to hard. Your mod specks should tell you what kind of battery it has in it you can look that battery up and see what amp drawl limits it has then do you OHMS law math converter calculations and make sure you are in the safe zone.
