International Shipping Route

So this is an odd question. How does international shipping from the US work in terms of the route, does it take a beeline path to the nearest border to the sender, cross it then travel through Canada, or does it travel through the US to get to the closest border to the recipient then cross and make its way?

I am waiting on an Ody kit. It shipped from Michigan on the tenth and its last check-in was on the 11th in Illinois... To me it would make more sense for it to cross in detroit, no? I hope I'm not being bamboozled...

When I ordered my Provari it went from washington to california to vancouver... south and then north. I think it has something to do with customs.

Sender > nearest us customs > sent international > local customs > out to you

There are only a few Customs mail centres (for international mail processing) across Canada. I can only find 3 that are listed (but there may be as many as 5 in total): Vancouver, Mississauga, & St. Laurent.

This might explain the wacky routes that our vapemail travels before getting to us!

Mississauga, St Laurent and Vancouver are all major parcel processing plants. Not sure about the other two but Mississauga has CBSA personal on site in their own section of the plant.
If your parcel was shipped by USPS, it should be going through this plant.

See I'm always learning, I thought customs just checked the stuff at the bridge or border crossing and handed it off to Canada post. This sucks, as I'm on a border city

Patience is something I'll just never have. I want to have my Ody in for when I go visit Pbusardo at Juicy Vapor in Tonawanda

Almost everything that I've ordered in the last two years that has shipped internationally has come through Vancouver, then Mississauga and finally to me. Everything except for the last two orders, which have somehow directly shipped to Mississauga and then onwards to me, skipping Vancouver completely.

Not sure what has changed in the process, but I will be watching to see if that trend continues.

What I have noticed is that when it ships directly through Mississauga, the item drops off the tracking grid for a period of about 4 days and then shows up being in Mississauga.

Depending on which coast I order from, my orders come through Montreal or Vancouver

All of my orders have come through Missisauga but it has happened on many occasions that at some point in the tracking process it drops off the radar and shows up on my doorstep. I read somewhere that depending on shipping method a lot of the time its not tracked past original dropoff point.

All my stuff usually goes through Mississauga then to Burlington. I've never ordered from China, so this has been for all my US packages.

Sometimes I think it would be quicker to get a po box in queenston-Lewiston and just drive down to pick it up... As well as a Walmart trip. But luckily I've never needed to

Yeah, once it shows up in Mississauga I usually get the stuff either the same evening or the next day.

Gahh, still no updates past the 11th. I'm just so excited to get this Ody. If my COV order comes in first I'm just going to make coils non-stop until the Ody gets here

Nada still. This is making me very sad. I want to have it going by Saturday morning... road trip to Tonawanda to meet Pbusardo!

Also, my girlfriend just informed me that there is a letter from Canada post waiting for me when I get home :S
