Internet Explorer 9 (IE9)

Has anyone upgraded to Internet Explorer 9?

www.pcmag.com IE9 review

It looks like it has some nice features; however I'm a little leery about installing it.

What do you think?

Stick with Firefox would be my advise

I'm a Firefox guy but I did install IE9 (64 bit) and gave it a bit of a test run. It's streamlined, more user friendly, and quicker than IE8. (I did see somwhere? benchmarks comparing the various browsers. IE9 32 bit was faster than IE9 64 bit) I did like the fact you can allow active x on a per site basis -- it's easy to do. I liked the privacy option(s) via importation of blacklists. If I was inclined to use IE I would prefer IE9.

I'm not a techie...just a regular user. It seems to work just fine. The only thing I found annoying was the compatibility mode. Of course, I didn't read anything about it first (so my bad). On another forum, images weren't showing...a techie type told me to click on the broken page icon (so that it appears in the color blue)...which fixed the problem. I should have figured that out myself since I'd found out on my own that in gmail the contact list won't show unless you click on the icon.

What operating system are you on (xp or Windows7)
It appears that with XP, since loading ie8, my browsing was dogging.
At that point I loaded Chrome which was a huge performance increase over ie8.
I'm content with chrome. Seems compatible with every site I go to.

I'm running Windows Vista 64 Bit & Windows 7 64 Bit.

Internet Explorer 9 only works in Windows Vista or Windows 7.

"But remember, IE9 only runs on the most recent flavors of Microsoft's operating system—Windows 7 and Vista—and there are separate installers for the two and separate versions for 32-bit and 64-bit editions."

Sure.. I installed it. I just don't use it (much).... FireFox 4 here.

The speed difference between the major browsers are irrelevant to me . My needs are simple.

I use FF 4 with the NoScript add-on for security.

Windows Update installed (whatever) updated version of MSIE tonight with my permission. I doubt I'll ever use it though. I just let it install so Update would quit bugging me about it.

I have Firefox installed on my PC for when the kids come over and just updated it to 4.0.

I guess the kids know something I don't.

I've just always used Internet Explorer.

I'll have to research Firefox now to see what makes it a better browser.
